I think Kianoush does have an attitude that he is better then everyone else and is too good and special. Here in Iran weightlifting is surprisingly popular and he has been treated like a god which I think has just gone to his head with everyone worshipping the ground he walks on.

Really enjoy your videos, narrations and interviews in general .... but I dont think you're really being fair in how you characterize his "personality". He comes across as on of those 'deep' personalities that can be misunderstood if you look only on the surface. The politics in the Iranian weightlifting federation is a whole story in itself as well .... but regardless they really did him dirty, and this is corroborated by the likes of Behdad Salimi as well. Its just such a shame to miss him in Tokyo, would have made for a great showdown with everyoe else.
@WeightliftingHouse4 жыл бұрын
I get what you are saying, and I didn't come to my conclusions quickly and without thought. When I was just a fan of the sport I thought exactly that. He is a deep thinker who was hard done by. But since getting to know him, talking with him, eating with him, filming him etc I have realised that whilst he is still all of those things, it is more complex than just that. Yes he is a deep thinker, but he still chooses to open too heavy. He still claims that he didn't understand how to qualify for the Olympics even though there are people I know who have explained it to him, not to mention the fact that it is his responsibility to work it out. If me and half of the podcast listeners understand how to qualify then an Olympic Champion really should too. Long reply, apologies. I completely get where you are coming from, I just think it's more than him just being a deep thinker.
