I kinda prefer it if he didn’t have a tragic backstory. Part of the reason Steele is my favorite Disney villain is because of how hateable he is. Having a reason for being a bad guy would kinda take that away. I would rather him not have a tragic backstory. Just being evil by his own choice entirely. P.s. YES! I know Balto isn’t actually Disney, but I like to consider it in some way, a part of the Disney family.

I can totally see this being Steele's backstory and tragic past and it makes more sense for why he didn't like Balto and it would've been interesting to see Balto ask Steele why he acts like he does and Steele tells him that he wasn't always like this.
