Very Useful. You did a very good good job of explaining this. Saved me a lot of time trying to figure this out on my own!

Thanks for a good beginner video that gets straight to the point and describes certain aspects of the app that others fail to mention.

KiCAD uses ngspice under the hood for simulation. Other than that, great tutorial.

can't seem to find a resistor for simulation. Anyone where i can get it in from.

Just type in Resistor within the parts finder. The standard "R" is already fine for using in simulation.

I can't seem to get the pspice library loaded in my components library. I only have Simulation_SPICE. Anyone who know how i can get past this?

Thanks for this tutorial. It was very helpful. I was wondering though - is it possible to simulate the circuit in this video with an LED instead of a regular diode and if so, how would someone do that? I would expect to see a drop of perhaps 2.2 Volts (for a red LED) instead of 0.7 Volts. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

I have a circuit problem, but I am not sure if the cure is better than the problem I am trying to fix. I have a metal detector the runs off of (6 pack) and (8 pack) AA batteries. They are connected to 2 connectors that share a common ground.. (+12v)---(GND)---(-9v) I was wondering if I am losing power efficiency if I made a (2 terminal battery pack) from LiPos and converted it to the voltages the circuit needs using a split phase output buck-boost converter. I don't know what the current requirements are, but I know it is more that the current output(14ma) of split phase buck-boost converters I found on ebay. The alternative to a split phase converter is two buck-boost converters with isolated outputs. Any advice?

I'm getting in simulator when add a diode (minute 14): No compatibility mode selected! warning, can’t find model diode Circuit: KiCad schematic Error on line 4 : d1 net-_d1-pad1_ 0 diode Unable to find definition of model diode Background thread stopped with timeout = 0 Error: circuit not parsed. I got exactly the same error after trying to simulate with a diode. Everything else worked up to that point.
