while nowadays is all about insulting your opponent to build up hype and sell tickets, Benny was pure class, pure respect, that's true samurai spirit

Benny was just to classy of a fighter to just wail away at his opponent when he knew his opponent was finished... there were so many times just in this fight alone where Benny had his hand cocked & could have just beat Simerly senseless if he had wanted to but he is a true martial artist & a class act.... always was always will be... I have nothing but the greatest respect for Benny Urquidez he is a true legend...

The Jet was just beautiful in the ring-it’s very clear that his fights in Japan just put him in a different class than everyone else when he came back stateside-he literally just walked Simmerly down as if he knew there was nothing he could do to him and just started unloading with those punishing body shots

Glad you posted this! Rick is a friend, and I'm very happy to have a record of his fight with Benny. It was Rick's only loss. He said afterwards that Benny was just better. What you don't get from the commentary is that Rick had fought in Thailand and had beat every fighter they threw at him. We thought he had a real chance at the time.

Benny looked so loose & quick... you could tell he was ready for this fight... I give Rick respect for stepping in the ring with Benny... two great fighters...

I know Ben is the favorite but in fairness I wish the commentators would’ve stop phoning over him enough to count the effort of his opponent who is doing a pretty good job staying out of reach for a while and we’re staying busy throwing kicks to keep Benny and day for a while.

Some of Benny's challengers don't realize how fortunate they are. Call it technician, tactician, clinician or whatever; if Benny let loose at the most vulnerable moments they would be hospitalized. I doubt it is video anomaly but Simmerly's left kidney region is red from all the hammering.

WHY didnt Benny Urquidez fight Demitrius Havanas ??????????? Same height, same weight, Havanas fought PKA and WKA, why ????????? Talk about a fight for the ages. Someone should feed all the Urquidez tapes and all the Havanas tapes into an AI program and see what comes up.

Excuse me Did I hear the commentator call Benny a nice boy? That’s kind of disrespectful and may be a bit racist.

LOLOL!! Bruh calm down. These were Ww2 era commentators who loved Karate and were Apple Pie Americans. They were totally in love with Benny. There was absolutely NOTHING RACIST in the comment.

How could you say something so silly? This was a different time, where people weren't as sensitive and delicate as you.

He’s the greatest champion that ever came out of America. That includes Bill wallace and Joe Louis. Then he went to Asia and took the fight to the champions over there and one beating them on their home turf fighting under their own rules rules that were new to him especially the leg kicking but like a true warrior he adapted. When Benny fights his art shows up with him he doesn’t look like a sloppy boxer who can throw a few kicks now and then nor does he look like a wannabe boxer like Joe Louis sorry joe but it’s trueWho throws the occasional kick now and then.
