Brad needs to sue Jesse for full custody of Thomas, on the grounds of child ab*se and parental alienation. Also, considering Jesse's paranoia about Brad cheating on her, he should get a paternity test for Thomas. That is the really sad truth right there. I'll bet she baby trapped Brad when she found out she was pregnant. She probably figured Brad's family wouldn't let him not take responsibility and unfortunately, she was right. As soon as her toxic behavior became apparent, I'd have wanted to be sure. Granted he can still be a dad to the boy if he wanted but his (ex)wife if sus as hell
@ZenoDovahkiin

@@Jerseybytes2 No, 100% not. I think the best option is get custody, refuse to do a DNA test if you can, and use the fact that Martin's name is on the birth certificate, a legally binding document. If they want certainty, they can later do a test with Thomas. But at this point if I was Martin, I'd worry that not being the bio dad could make custody more conplicated. Yes, he's legally the father, but just because Thomas' genes aren't rekevant to the case and it'd be cryel and inhumane to use it against him in court doesn't mean Jesse's unhinged self or her lawyers wouldn't try it or that the fucked uo family court system won't somehow get hung up on it and use it to favour the woman. I'd want to know if Thomas is mine or not, in fact even if you don't want to know, still find out for medical reasons. But first, get custody. His mother is abusive and needs to lose her power over him. Visitation at most, if she can calm tf down.

@PeriwinklePig 4 ай бұрын
Lot of whackjobs out there with no concept of nuance and a desire to control people, even in situations where that's just not possible. To them, a miscarriage that a mother has no real control over is exactly the same thing as her making the conscious decision to have a fetus aborted. This is essentially just abusers trying to "justify" why their victims ""deserved to be punished"" or to be abused plainly put. The point is to shift blame onto a victim to lash out at, rather than to accept the fact that life just throws some really sucky curveballs at people and learning how to deal with them like most adults. Logic is not going stop them unfortunately. The worst part is that you have politicians who genuinely think like this and are trying to push for laws that punish women for having miscarriages, regardless whether or not if she fully intend on becoming a mother and had zero interest in abortion.
@ZenoDovahkiin
@ZenoDovahkiin 4 ай бұрын
Jesse wanted ammunition against OP and this is the best she got. There is some actual stigma around miscarriages because they *_can_* be the result of irresponsible behaviour from the mother. Basically some people will assume you did something to lose the child, just like when you bring your wife to the hospital with a blunt force injury from some accident they will think you beat her (yes this happens). Jesse jumped to this conclusion because she's a psycho. Actually arguing the point is useless. She'll stop trying to use the miscarriage as a shaming tool soon as she learns that nobody else actually blames OP and it's backfiring on her.

This is a situation where the father needs to fight for full custody of the kid. That narcissist of a mother is already psychologically abusing him for putting him through this -don't doubt she would get physical too. If Jessie does physically abuse Thomas, and someone gets wind of that, they'll contact social services to remove him from her, and instead of placing Thomas with Brad and OP, they'll have to place him in the foster care system, until they find another family to adopt him; a family who are good people. Something you have to understand is in most cases the judges and family's try to keep both parents in contact with the kid, nothing here mentioned that anything about drugs, physical violence or anything of the sort so almost all cases will be in favor of the mother or whoever is more capable of taking care of the child. Since its not really illegal to be a awful person (I just mean rude toxic spilling drama etc) you cant really chase her out cause most of them will take it out on the child. Its things that would seem simple but are stupidly inconvenient for mostly good Samaritans.

How it went on for so long? People are too nice. Or at least they think they are, but in reality they are lazy idiots trying to walk the path of least resistance and appeasement. They never realise that this won’t work in the slightest: they only drag out their problem/situation and make it worse. Sure, confrontation is more difficult and draining, but once it’s done, its done. (Or it should be, if done right) It’s like ripping off a band aid: if you only ever peel off he first centimetre and then put everything back where it was, the band aid will never come off. Rip it off in one go and deal with the pain, and you’re done.

Why would they even consider inviting her to the wedding? I get that they wanted to have a civil relationship with the mother of Thomas but she kinda destroyed that delusion every chance she got. And also, why would anyone judge you for a miscarriage when you didn't even know you were pregnant? I get it was very traumatic to OP, and hurling that in her face is definitely reaching the lowest of the low in terms of shitty things to do, but I don't see a world where other poeple would judge her for a surprise miscarriage, sounds like blank ammunition to me. And who in their right mind would think kicking someone who actively disrupted the wedding out is going too far? Thats literally the bare mininum. This just all seems like common sense to me. Obviously Jesse doesn't have any as she's insane, but the rest of the drama seems completely unnecessary to me and the result of the secondary characters (like Brad's parents) not having any common sense either. It shouldn't even be a question if OP was the asshole, nobody with a right mind would think that she was.

OP goes through all that explanation of Brad's relationship, but the word "abusive" only falls when Jesse sends her mean texts. Women, man. This is sad.

I bet Jesse cheated on Brad and maybe Thomas was the result of it, it would make sense why she’d constantly accuse him of evidence without solid proof. I’m not surprised why she stupidly believes that OP having a miscarriage must mean she “willingly killed the baby and therefore, a murderer”. While there are some cases where mothers done that purposely, there’s unfortunately some brain-dead morons who firmly believe that. I feel bad for Thomas, that poor kid doesn’t deserve to have that kind of person as his “mother”. ATP, Thomas should be taken from her “care” (she literally throw the skates OP gifted him just for some petty reason and then would make him lunch boxes so he wouldn’t eat OP’s cooking). Pissed me off how she’d involve the poor boy in this mess and not be ashamed of her trashy actions

Brad has plenty of proof and reason to demand sole custody of his son, this woman is not only unfit but seriously mentally unstable. God only knows what she's doing to that poor boy at home!
