Completed the install of both the Sony XAV-AX4000 and Kicker Speaker Upgrade Bundle in my 2013 Jeep Wrangler JK today.. Everything came pre-wired for a plug and play installation. Everything arrived quickly and packaged with care. The install of all components couldn't of been easier, not one point of frustration, when guided by the superb how-to videos and instruction materials. To say the difference between the Trail Seven Kits and the factory components are night and day is an vast understatement. The sound out of the new Kicker speakers is AMAZING and the new Sony head unit is packed with features and easy to navigate. Thank you Trail Seven, for taking the guess work out of what could of been a daunting task, you've earned a customer for life!!!!

Using a drill for screwing down screws in speakers it's always best to use an adjustable sleeve on your drill to prevent from porting the speakers as well.

Great video. My 12yr old daughter & 10yr old son watched the video & install took them ~3hrs (with my supervision) in my ‘17 JKU Sahara w/ Alpine. Only comment is, rear speaker & speaker grille Torx screws are T20 in my ‘17 (not T15 like the video says). Kicker KS speakers sound great. Definitely more bass punch than the factory paper speakers.

The one thing I hate about the Factory amp is that there is no fader. I can adjust left and right, but can't adjust the fader. I plugged my new speakers straight into my new pioneer head unit. Now I can use the overhead speakers more. No amp or little sub in the back, but the four new speakers sound much better.

@@johnblack8771 Need, no, BUT they will certainly appreciate more power than just the factory radio. The KS speakers are a high performance speaker that thrive in a power environment.

Do you recommend a certain radio with the bundle or does it not matter. My stock radio broke so I bought a temporary Apple car play radio on Amazon but having issues with the sound not being loud enough or if it turned too loud the sounds cuts out altogether. As well as having little to no bass sound for some reason. Is that a speaker issue or radio or both?

@@daniellebarone9431 The Kicker KS speakers do perform at a higher frequency and do appreciate more power. We have a few plug and play radio bundles that will offer them a decent amount of power. You may want to look into adding a small subwoofer to complement the speakers. Most customers lean towards the Kicker Hideaway as an easy solution to complete their system. The Kicker KS speakers, paired with one of our radio bundles, and a Hideaway subwoofer is the perfect little compact JK audio bundle.

I want to upgrade my sound system in my 2012 JK 2 door, but it does not have the stock woofer, will those speakers have a deeper Bass volume than the stock ones? Awesome vid btw!

Thank you so much! They’ll be louder, clearer, and crisper for certain but for the bass we’d strongly recommend adding the hideaway sub. It’s a tight fit in the 2 door but it is possible for a few creative spots.

You should never have to cut the factory connectors off. If someone wanted to put the factory system back in, now they can't. They make connectors to just plug on the disconnected harness that will match right up.

Does this set up sound better than the OEM premium infinity set up? On the 2011 jeep wrangler Sahara?

I can confidently say yes! It’s a louder, more defined, crisp sound. I will say that adding the Hideaway powered sub will absolutely compliment the set up. Our shop Sahara has (had) the stock amplified Alpine setup and the Kicker swap along with the Hideaway addition brought everything together very nicely. This along with an aftermarket head unit of course; which if you haven’t already seen, we offer plug and play Sony head unit bundles as well!

The very first speaker you installed you cut the wire. Plug and play isn't cutting the factory wires.

@@hashbrown2133 That’s is correct. However, See the 2nd paragraph in the description. We’ve resolved that a few months ago and now include pre-terminated plug and play connectors on the dash tweeters. NO cutting required.

@@beesting987 I would think the 40watts x 4 of the Alpine would wake up the Kicker speakers and adding a powered sub should bring it all together nicely. Have you checked out our Kicker Hideaway powered sub plug and play bundles? But, if we were adding an amp, we would just go ahead with a 5 channel in order to add a standalone sub. Something along the lines of CXA660.5; which we stock as well!

The speaker upgrade is just speakers. We just released the full system bundles which include the speakers, an amp, and multiple sub options.

I just swapped the speakers on my two door JK and I didn't bother to remove the three screws in the dash on the passenger side. I used a quarter inch ratchet with a ten millimeter socket to do the bottom bolt on the speaker housing.

Ahha, there are mixed years with the following colors: Left Grey/Yellow - Left Grey/Orange + Right Grey/Lt. Green - Right Grey/Dk Green + The Kicker speaker colors are- Grey/ black stripe = negative Grey solid = positive

That’s all good actually! Our shop jeep has the same set with the stock sub in the rear floor. Unless that sub is blown, you will leave it. The new Kicker upgrade sounds amazing with that sub and to add, we installed our 10” Hideaway plug and play bundle under the passenger seat which really compliments the system!

Thanks and noted. The 4 speaker option is listed as plug and play, not so much the 6 speakers and only for the 07-14 which use the tombstones. We do have connectors in production that will eliminate the need for cutting which will be on shelves within the next 45 days.

Correct, which is why we offer the 07-14 bundle as a 4 speaker option as well as a 6 speaker option. The 4 speaker is without the dash speakers while the 6 speaker bundle includes the dash, but requires cutting. Also, the 15-18 bundles don’t require any cutting at all.

@@trailseven the host mentions that it’s plug and play. The host then cuts the factory connector. I almost skipped the video at that point. The presenter then clarifies that the only pre-facelift models need to be cut and that facelift models are truly plug and play. I have a facelift model. Not interested at all in cutting factory connectors.
