And this dude doesn't even count the cost it might have. Like, destroyable environment is incredibly hard to achieve, especially in MMO since that means the environment had to be dynamic. Some games does have that, but even so, the developer is highly selective in which parts of environment you can destroy and which aren't (i.e mostly it's the harvestable). Not to mention the project that he pitches would be MMO. I mean, 40k for MMO with some unknown guy who have no portfolio in creating a complex project with no background in project management? Lmao Most MMO would cost several millions dollar to develop. This dude out of his mind lol.

I'm aware few people will see this, but i got a story anyways. A scenario very similar to this happened to me. Some friends and I joined a design competition through our school and competed in the game design category. Basically, we ended up kind of half-assing it, but we came with a playable game that looked halfway decent. We got second place because there wasn't a good story. The kicker is that the person who won came with a Google doc and some shitty concept art of an insanely complex fantasy rpg. They hadn't even started programming a game.

Bethesda doesn't want to do it. It's a lot of fucking work to get a game world like that running on multiplayer, and even if they did, every other aspect of the game would suffer, mostly questlines and stories and characters and shit. Although that didn't stop those guys from making a working Skyrim multiplayer mod and I mean jesus christ how fucking incredible is that?!

lmao no matter how godly a coder you are, you couldn't pull of something of that scale, you need to do modelling, texturing, soundwork ect. and a single guy just can't do that.
