My grandmother took me to see Ray Charles in 1963, so I've seen a lot of concerts. I can only remember 2 that topped this. 68 Hendrix and Aretha a week apart. I saw this same Kid show on my birthday, 1980. My partner and I spent a half hour talking to Coati Mundi not realizing who he was until he came on stage. Tightest band I've ever seen!

KC&TC was one of the most enjoyable and exciting acts of the 1980's, and considering how diverse and entertaining that decade's music was that says a lot. Coming from Trinidad and Tobago l was overjoyed to hear hints of my native Calypso music in his songs "Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy" and "I'm A Wonderful Thing, Baby" The fact he's still performing after amlost 5 decades is amazing

Wow! I always wished I had seen then in 80s. Now it's a bigger regret but so glad the Germans did such a great recording of them. I liked their albums but now i see they were one of those great live bands.

WoW! PRINCE just duplicated this in 1986 during the Parade tour (4 years LATER)
@modifiedcontentАй бұрын
Prince apparently hung out in New York a lot in 1980-81, I think because his sister lived there. He attended Kid Creole shows, confirmed by Coati Mundi, and obviously took notes - I think Vanity Six was based on Coconuts, Rick James' Mary Jane Girls was later. Prince gave Kid Creole The Sex Of It as a single.

@bentwick6675 - actually, this show heralded the end of Rockpalast - unfortunately! The hard rock'n rollers only wanted Rockpalast for themselves even though it was organized and paid for by the public broadcaster, i.e. all of us. I (15 at the time) was also a rocker, but I thought it was good and right to allow other styles too. I thought this show was really great -power, pepper, rhythm, show - incredible.
