Spouse 2. Children 3. Parents 4. Siblings 5. Aunts/Uncles, Nieces/Nephews, Cousins (order depending on state) ...and then if several children or siblings or whatever get it but have to evenly split it, there can be legal disputes about who gets what. Designating everything in a will can help avoid this kind of legal drama and it's almost impossible to hide since Millionaires these days aren't just hoarding their cash and assets at home and if they are they are typically documented and insured.
