Hello. Why do controllers disappear when moving a character to another scene (project)? sorry, I'm using a translator
@stepheniosun3 жыл бұрын
It mostly depends the setting of the controller node. There are 3 options, so probably you need to set it to "always on" in which case they will never disappear

@stepheniosun3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. Well regarding the heavy use of master controllers, its a bit of 2 things. 1: I'm still trying to master it, as there are several things I'm still trying to get a hang of. 2: I'm coming from over 10years of 3d animation, so I guess the whole influence carried over.

Hey Stephen, this rig is amazing man. I'm a 2nd year animation student trying to specialise in rigging. Really specific question but how do you make the pegs move when you turn the character, like i'm assuming the turnaround is made using substitution drawings but for me the peg always stays where it was in front view. Same with deformers, i'm scrubbing through tutorials and nowhere seems to mention it haha. Also if i keep following the Toonboom course on their website will it teach me how to make that IK FK switch because that's awesome. Any reply is appreciated, keep up the good work.
@stepheniosun2 жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for the kind words. To answer your question, a typical 360 rig involves a combination of envelope deformers (adapting to new shapes to account for the new views) and pegs which move from one side to another. Also these peg allow limbs and other parts to transition along the Z axis by popping up and down. The advanced rigging course on the Toon Boom site (rigging 2 or 3 can't remember which of them) should teach you everything you need to make a 360 rig. The IK-FK switch was something I experimented on myself. I hope this helps.
@zoinksscoob64682 жыл бұрын
@@stepheniosun Thanks for replying so quickly! Ahh okay so you've used envelopes to warp the shape for every view and that's why it's so smooth to turn, as it's interpolating between each view. That must have taken forever, props to you. I've been doing the course on there so i'll keep looking through it cheers and that IK-FK is great, I haven't seen a 2D rig with one before.

Toon Boom Harmony and Storyboard Pro are industry standards, if you have 5 Seasons with 21 episodes of content and characters, you want something that streamlines the animation pipeline. Studios use both but for learning, study animation first and then learn both software, Harmony for Studio work, Moho for fun

Awesome work. I don't get it... why it's such a tedious process to make a rig? Harmony is earning millions of dollars... why not create a tool to generate characters and ready to go rigs? And with AI nowadays, it should be even more fun to generate whatever we want.
@stepheniosun7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the compliment. Regarding the automated process, I feel there are too many variables to account for in building a rig, unlike 3D animation. But unfortunately I'm no expert in that field to say for sure how possible that would be. Though Who knows, anything can happen down the line.
