The Darth Bane Trilogy is some of THE BEST Star Wars there is. I wish there was a sequel story with Darth Zannah and Darth Cognus

I tried to write a fan fiction sequel doing just that for one of my college writing classes… I’m not a writer though 😂

Karpyshyn wants to write a Zannah novel, but Lucasfilm/Del Rey told him to piss off, sadly.

Just wait till they strip him down for the NuCanon, although, tbf, it's hard to see them wrecking him worse than Dave Filoni did.

@@saberiandream316 agreed but his appearance but an idea in my head that it would be cool to have bane survive… kinda. Have something resembling him live in zannah, like a corrupted dark side spirit. Then have zannah use sorcery to remove this baneish spirit and entomb or trap him somewhere (perhaps korriban) so that he would appear in tcw. I understand tcw doesn’t fit in legends that scene always makes me think of that idea tho lol.

Nice book to read. Bane is one of my favorite Sith Lords in the EU.

One detail I liked is how the bartender, Groshik, is a Neimoidian - as in, one of the aliens who oversees the Trade Federation centuries later. It gives the whole thing the feel of this lived-in universe that George Lucas wanted for the films, and the novels reflect that. A stellar outing from Drew Karpyshyn.

Whoever has the opportunity, it is worth your money/time to listen to the audiobook on KZbin.

Before hearing your re-read analysis, I got to say this book got me hooked the first time I read it. It was in 2013 when I got it from the library after graduating from college and I could not put the book down. I can recall my imagination going into overdrive by reading the book creating images of Bane from being in the mines, the academy and becoming the Sith Lord (not to mention the light whip).

I just finished this book. What small handful of Karpyshyn's work read, he hasn't let me down.

I always loved how it didn't spell things out. Like his dad called him a bane of his existence so he later dubs himself Bane. A bad writer would explicitly tell you banes father abused him and called him bane and so he now calls himself bane.

I mean its easy to figure that out but it's not that it's not spoon fed to you.

I would have left Star Wars in 2014 if not for this masterpiece.

I didn't think about it until watching this video but the way Bane secretly trains with both Githany and the blademaster is very similar to how on KOTOR you can play the two heads of the sith academy on Koriban against each other. Very cool little similarity there

Do you have a video where you talk about your favorite EU books?

Most overrated book in the EU. It's not terrible by any stretch though.
@wilhufftarkin85432 жыл бұрын
It's one of the most well-known EU books, so it gets much more praise compared to other great EU books that aren't as widely known. I agree that it's overrated compared to other EU books, but a lot of people don't know much else, so they can't really compare it. Also I think for many people it was the entry into the EU, so they have much nostalgia for it. It's the same reason why the Thrawn trilogy is overrated.

@@incr8765 Shatterpoint is really underrated. Yes, it's a weird novel, but Matthew Stover is a great writer compared to the average Star Wars author and this book managed to make Mace Windu one of my favorite Jedi. Most people only know Windu as the grumpy asshole who was mean to Anakin and caused him to fall to the dark side (which is wrong), but this novel showed him from a different angle.

Best trilogy/series in Star Wars novelization... Heir to the Empire is overrated not this series. #2 Star Wars book only to Darth Plagueis

@@incr8765 Isn't every EU novel underrated, though? Let's face it, we don't even put a DENT in the mass-mainstream casual-fandom social-media trend chasers, the true customer base of Star Wars in the Disney era.
