I just watched a documentary about this monster. When he was 15, he kidnapped a 14-year-old neighbor and sexually assaulted her. He should've been locked up for life then.

I get so tired of hearing about how people try to get off easy/easier on their terrible crimes by confessing to more or worse crimes and the other crimes they confessed to don't give them a longer and/or worse sentence instead like they should. The justice system really is screwed up.

Well would you rather have him never confess to other crimes and so the families of those victims would never get closure? Because clearly he would have only confessed if they took away the death penalty

Okay, but think about this reasonably. Without making some sort of deal with him, the authorities would likely never have been able to uncover all the other shit he did, so no matter what he still isn't going to be punished for it. If they get his confession and then go back on their deal, though, then what reason would he have to cooperate later, considering he's now going to reject his own testimony? Why would anyone confess to such things if the police can't be trusted to honor deals?

WOW what a story from Mr Ballen, this man is a very sickening serial killer, he took many lives from others but didn't want his to be taken away from him, no remorse and just wants to brag about the horrible actions he committed and all the people he killed and lured them on his property pretending it was just for work, buying all of these tools on Amazon, giving reviews that proves his intentions and the murders he committed, may all of the victims rest in peace.

The people are insane, there could be so many cases where these kinds of crimes took place but never came to light. There could be many criminals who walk freely amongst unsuspecting populace. It's very scary, hard to believe anyone anymore.

It's simple logic actually. If he confesses to other murders (with details known to only the murderer) that means closing of cold cases and families finally having answers. So he can't be executed.

If you punish people for opening up about things they did that you don't know about then they're not going to tell you. It's a choice between never being punished because you take that secret to your grave and never being punished because you traded closure for your life.
