So I looked up this story and apparently they also sold some of the villagers (both male and female) into sexual slavery. Also he didn’t say it, but apparently everyone took part in the consuming of blood including the villagers and two brothers. This just keeps getting worse and worse

Whenever we use to visit family in Mexico we had to travel through La Cierra Madre. It was so scary going through those winding narrow roads so high up. When it was dark or there was a lot of fog it got even scarier. I was happy when a better road was constructed down below but we only went that way a few times. Violence and territory wars between cartels made it to dangerous to go through there. I do miss the scenery though but glad we never bumped into any like what this woman did.

South American native tribes are intense AF. A LOT of human sacrifice in the cultures and part of the mythology. I make the joke that (with the brutality of cartel murders, a lot you can EASILY find online) the spirit never left them. Like cartel brutality is almost part used as sacrifices and threats to other cartels or anyone that crosses them. Could make a cool piece of horror media about and in fact the horror anthology film series V/H/S kind of plays with that idea in V/H/S 85 for one the tales. Ancient Aztec evil raising back up and causing a zombie plague and ancient gods coming back to reclaim earth. Also the game Red Dead Redemption had a fun DLC called undead nightmare. The base map of RDR 1 is like a parody section of (I think) either New Mexico, Arizona or Texas and it leads into Mexico. Well to spoil Undead Nightmare's story, the undead are coming back and causing a zombie plague because a Aztec mask belonging to some deity they made up for that game (but I have no doubt was based on SOME deity from Aztec mythology) was disturbed from it's Tomb and you place it back at the end and stop the chaos.
