The sad thing is Samantha’s boyfriend was in touch with her the ENTIRE night including the ride home. The "Uber" story hits so close to home because when I was younger I ordered a taxi and someone had tuned into the cab office radio and got my details, when he pulled up and said my name I felt ok but my gut was screaming something isn't right, thankfully I noticed he didn't have the stickers/badges required by cab drivers and declined the ride, saying sorry I've changed my mind, he became aggressive and got out of the car but I was one heck of a runner in my teens so was able to get away and call police. Please be careful about who you're getting into a car with, even if you have booked the Uber, check the license plate, ask him to clarify the details of the pick up and just do all you can to check authenticity of your ride! Stay safe ❤️

One of the other sad things about Samantha's case is that her boyfriend, (might have been her fiancee, even), had been trying to find her when she left the bar, too. So he was actually watching in real time on his Find My Friends app as her murderer drove her further and further away, until the signal dropped. He was completely devastated. This caused Uber to change their security policies, although it took them awhile. That's why you now see lit Uber and Lyft signs in the car windows, driver photos, names, car photos, and license plate numbers on the app itself.

Former part-time Uber driver here. I cannot tell you how many times that I had drunk people accidentally get into my car (or attempt to) that weren’t my pickups. This included drunk college girls and 20-somethings traveling alone or in pairs. Fortunately for them, I wasn’t a complete psychopath. But these girls got into a stranger’s car without even verifying my photo or the make/model of my car. This is mind-bogglingly stupid. PLEASE verify your driver’s identity and that the vehicle matches that of your Uber or Lyft BEFORE you get into their car. Furthermore, don’t get so shitfaced at the bar that you can’t even recognize a potentially dangerous situation. If you want to get that drunk, please do that in the relative safety of your own home or that of a trusted friend.

I think the most fearful part of Samantha’s story is that she probably at some point got a notification that her Uber was waiting for her or something along those lines while she was in the backseat of what she thought WAS her Uber driver. The panic that ensues would likely be nauseating to say the least… RIP

When you order an Uber in the app, the app will first show you a picture of the driver's face and a detailed description of the car. How in the world did he accomplish that? The app also shows you a real time map with a car emoji moving towards you with a countdown of time to zero minutes; this way you can see how far he was starting and how long it will take him to reach you. I've Uber so many times and that's how it works. Forget the stupid sticker.

@@hapabear You very well may be correct and if 100% true, that is very sad because it means that this horrific murder was easily avoidable if a) she was not so drunk or b) complete disregard to the app & it's info that it shares with riders. Regarding that last story, it’s always been terrifying to me that there are utter psychopaths out there who are able to commit such unspeakable acts of violence upon another person (an innocent one, at that), yet remain completely unaffected...even going so far as to interact with the people around him, but with no discernible signs that anything was different.

I heard about this story from another crime channel. I guess if there's anything to take from it, it's to confirm the driver's name and car matches in the uber app before you get in. I always do that anyway but it just reenforces the idea in my head. Also, if one of her friends had gone with her, maybe this wouldn't have happened. These cowards are always looking for an easy victim. He had actually lapped around that nightclub several times before picking her up.

I love how Ron looked at losing his eye in such a positive way. Amazing! The last two stories are so horrible that those men could just snuff those incredible women's lives out. They were so talented and gifted and I feel horrible for their families loss. There are so many psychos out in the world. Thank you for putting a light on fake ubers and how horrible things can go if you aren't safe enough. Oh my family and I are looking into SimpliSafe, thanks to you too.

Is it me or doesn't it look like the big azz drill bit was going thru his nose at a sharp angle upwards and not an actual xray of the guy in the story? Also, that person's skull is way too small to be a full grown man . Looks to be a kid or a female skull but idk it just doesn't add up imho

Honestly to me that x ray looks fake. The whole first story seems a little made up. And why would they have to twist the drill bit out of his head? It didn't drill itself into his head. Five years ago, I was a freshman at a private university in North Carolina when I heard about Samantha’s untimely death. For months afterwards, I heard my mom repeatedly tell me to never get in an Uber without confirming who your driver is because of this incident. It was a very scary thing to have that happen only a few hours from me at the time, especially being in the same age group.
