People like to bring up the whole "metal arms is the whole reason he was champ for 20 years", but that's not quite all. They explicitly stated that it just increased his striking power. NOT his speed, durability or any of that. Just because you can punch harder doesn't mean you can punch BETTER. He still has to hit the guy, and avoid/survive blows himself.

From what I remember, TJ didn't get his Berserker mode until *after* he lost his implants. So it turns out he was even faster without them, probably because he's not carrying heavy metal implants inside him.

TJ did have metal arms, but any boxer will tell you takes a LOT more than just hitting hard to win a boxing match, especially for that long.

Not for this fight though. The berserk and healing came after the implants came out. It was said that he didn't have the metal in this fight.

That's why his experience still mattered in this fight, since it takes more than strength to hold it for that long. Even with the implants, he still had to do more than just hit hard. Now, he's not as strong, but he still has the other skills he took from all those years of being the champ. He literally says in his trailer, he once took the easy way out. Once. No more implants. No more cheating. Just honest TJ. And at the end of his story mode, thanks to him and Orchid beating Aria, he gains back the respect and fame he once had.

Both from the ghetto. Both fought their way out, literally, to rise to fame and fortune through their skill and tenacity. Both lost it all through cheating. Here's where they diverged. Balrog ultimately never learned humility, to count his blessings and to make what talent he actually had to the absolute top. He could ultimately never defeat his shadow self, his darker impulses. TJ on the other hand, did learn. He went on to master and ultimately overcome his weakness. It could make for an excellent boxing movie.

They switched Balrog's name because Capcom had issues releasing the game outside of Japan ... because M. Bison was too close to Mike Tyson. That's why, a lot of street fighter players call this character "boxer" even though there have been multiple boxers in street fighter, while the character who got saddled with the M. Bison name we call "dictator"

Nah, balrog lost to dudley, who was a much calmer and more gentlemanly boxer. Balrog is strong and can take a beating but his skill is clearly not the best.
