What up, REC! This is "Verbal the Battlecat" ... Hopefully we can talk with you soon; I still have cassettes of our work and semi-fondly remember the scene back in the late 90s, early 2000s! Salute! You're one of the most talented producers I've witnessed work!

Theres a scene in 8Mile where Cheddar Bob ask B Rabbit if he's worried about what Papa Doc is gonna say. Giving B Rabbit the idea to air out all his problems in the last battle so Papa Doc has nothing to say. The stuff he's saying about having creative input early in Em's music actually makes a lot of sense I can see how the Cheddar Bob character would be based on him.

Im just going to say this, I grew up in Watts, CA and i was the only person out of my friend group that went to college (Berkeley). I graduated with an engineering degree and Ive helped my friends with their businesses. I invested money into a taco truck for one friend, another guy needed money to start manufacturing chocolate, and the others just needed help with getting a decent living situation (deposit on apts etc) or a decent car to get to work. Ive helped all of them because i promised i would no matter what it took. Ive gotten paid back every dollar. To each their own and i understand people say "youre not obligated", i know im not but it was a promise i made to them and myself. I wouldnt feel successful knowing my friends are hurting. Thats just me though. Maybe i come from a different generation but I dont like seeing my friends struggle.

@@TraderRY I agree. One thing I’ve learned is “it takes a village” and our family and friends is all we really have in this world. So why not help out our little community of people while we can and while it matters. Everyone i know that made it, dissapeared and even mocked my own vision and my pursuits, despite the fact that when we were young, i was the one as the creative , desinging everyone business logos and aoparel , always available for think tank sessions and conceptual development, I also was a producer and low level at that but would just give beats away, or deaign entire albums and brand them and not a single friend remains today. Therrs not a lot of peoole who see friends as family like you where you chose that that was your vision, to help them however they needed or was possible. That is INSANELY RARE and dedicated. Its srill sad for me looking back and how insanely naive and selfish everyone was and i was just happy to try and help everyone with anything and today it feels like they almost felt entitled to my gifts or talent just because... but thats all i was good for and worth, was for their leisure & inconsistent demands , never really being my friend i was just a "friend" for the long cons or manipulation ,

However, being that it seems like Cheddar Bob was a big part of Eminem's come up. I'm shocked Eminem hasn't helped him out really at all. I get that we all got friends however most of our friends never play a roll in our success as young adults unless they're like our best friends and in this particular situation. Bottom line is eminem was an underground backpack battle rapper. He signed with Dre and had to switch up and become more commercially viable. He compromised his integrity by switching up his true identity in order to reach a wider audience. Some say that's smart business but in HipHop that's the definition of a sell out. He had to become a bit more "gangsta" even though that's not at all who he was or is, and in order to do so he had to leave his underground homies behind, especially the white ones if we're being real, and that's why Cheddar Bob got left. I know stans will justify it, but I watched it all unfold from the time infinite dropped up to the current times. Doesn't take away from his skill as a rapper, but he is not immune to the rules of the industry. To make it to the level of superstardom he has you simply have to abide by the rules of the industry masters. Stans want so badly for em to be the exception to that rule but he simply is not. And I'm sure he's done much more shady work than that. He called himself shady but of course stans will say that's not real but then turn and say all his other lyrics are real and he's the realest ever 🤣 Like I said I grew up in the 80s and 90s and was trully in the culture and heavy into the underground and everyone saw him change up (sell out) and we all knew it. But of course winners of wars write history so the picture painted of him now is far different from what it was and what it truly should be.

I'm honestly curious how much creative control Em had over the film. Characters are often combined or erased to make a smoother storyline. The thing about James is crazy. I know what Stan is about, but it made me think kind of... I know that that whole situation has to weigh on Eminems mind. Theres 2 scenarios in this situation. 1. Eminem was advised by people to basically cut out anybody he knows for legal purposes, knowing the level of fame he was likely to attain or 2. Eminem is a personality disordered narcissist who has zero empathy and will use whoever to prop him for the next stage of his life. Love Eminems music been listening to him since a teenager. I'm 39 now, so when I call him a potential narcissist, I'm not trying to put him down, necessarily just trying to comprehend the situation. Just thinking if my best friend, who is like a brother, tried reaching out to me and I just ghosted him after knowing him for years, yah, I would never do that. Anyways. This is a great interview.

I'm pretty sure there's room for other explanations between 1 and 2… or a little of both. We already know that Hollywood tends to insert their kind of people as handlers and go-betweens. It's easy for hometown folks to fall through the cracks if the new person managing the phone/schedule doesn't consider them a priority. We know that Em was suddenly a star, and everybody wanted a piece: 🎤 shows, 📸 shoots, 📰 interviews, 🛫 international travel, etc. That's a lot of stress and very little time to breathe, plus it's a huge 😵💫 mindfxck. We know that he was 🥃 using more to cope, which made him act different. Anyway, I can only speculate. Whatever the reasons, it's a tragedy that he wasn't there for James. I hope there can be healing for the surviving friends.

I believe it was 2005 - 2006 my bro who drove an 18 wheeler . The company he drove for was right off of 75 & 8 mile . He was stop by the police and when they ran his license , he found out he had a warrant . He goes to jail & truck towed . His wife called & said he wanted me to ride up there with her to pay his bond . We live just north of Cincinnati Ohio . By the time we got up there , his boss got him out & he was waiting on us at a bar on 8 mile . Wasn't far off the interstate & right turn on 8 mile . Don't remember the name of the bar ( biker bar) but one of EM'S friends was shot & killed that night on or just off of 8 mile . Some chick was telling us about it at the bar . She said we shouldn't leave anytime soon , because cop's were everywhere...that place was a shit hole ...

@crnkmnky2 күн бұрын
@@coryc9721 Man, ease up on Bob! 😸 You call him delusional, meanwhile the whole town was thinking the same thing… The _8 Mile_ film is Hollywood fiction, yet it's not quite fiction enough for the folks back home. They recognize obvious fragments of themselves, and rightfully get the idea that it's trying to "say" something about reality.

I grew up in the same exact area in Detroit, in between 7 and 8 mile by Gratiot. I lived on Bringard which is about 5 or 6 streets away from Novara. Novara is closer to 7 mile and Bringard is closer to 8 mile. I wonder which side of Gratiot he lived on, in between Gratiot and Kelly, or in between Gratiot and Schoenherr. I lived in between Gratiot and Kelly, just down the street from Eastland Mall which Em referenced in the Slim Shady EP. Em's talked about Novara in a few songs too. I have childhood friends from Novara. The club Proof was shot at was at the corner of my block and 4 streets up from me; I remember waking up the day it happened.

If a rapper blows up, he or she is not obligated to just break off or put on every friend that they ever knew. That’s just ridiculous. When your friend goes to college and maybe becomes rich and successful, is he or she expected to just break you off some cheddar, Bob? Probably not. I get it if promises were made in vain, but don’t just expect shhhh because you’re a good homie.

You’re missing the point way different, he was doing music with him! Produced , beats, kinda like a band and the lead singer drops everyone else , but he could have gave him jobs, connections, this is crazy to think em would do this but the other boys proof and them he didn’t, why only bob the only other white boy too lol idk either way people all in These comments from Detroit shouting him out read the comments.
@ryanmartin22105 күн бұрын
This is a completely ridiculous comment. I have a handful of friends in my life that would most definitely benefit from my success If they were part of the beginning. This guy is literally a character in Eminem’s movie that he made a joke out of, but he was still obviously a significant part of his life
@TraderRY5 күн бұрын
@@ryanmartin2210 Exactly, not every friend or anyone they know, close friends, family, that’s different, his comments is ridiculous, there is another comoment on here some guy went to only college and got a good career, helped his close childhood friends the best he could, this is the difference of a REAL friend or family member, a good person, morals and so on, do what you can, even just connection he would have earned his own way, Em would still have unlimited money, Greed, helps his family and stuff, if he was smart his net worth would be billions guy has diamond plaques, many albums, awards, movie, features, one of the most popular artist or people ever, he is very wealthy and could have helped everyone he knew & still be wealthy could have turned that wealth into so much more, at minimum Bob should have been in the room, connections and much more, read the comments on here artist & everything sticking up for him saying he’s a legend & very good, his work would have projected him, it’s like em was worried he would do something to his image or his talents or something, maybe because doctor dre took his place but he could have had input with Dre, Dre would have seen his talents idk but something is up, sad EM would do something like this especially when dude was mixing and more for him.
@GABA-Gool6 күн бұрын
Seems like a cool dude but he said a few things that makes me think he’s lying to look cool or whatever. Like how Em was “mad” when he saw him but he didn’t “remember” why. Or how he was asked for tons of autographs after 8 Mile came out. Lastly, being “forced” to watch 8 Mile but not “remembering” who forced him to watch it. His memory is sharp until he doesn’t want it to be.
