Astarion does so much healing in Act 2, he’s almost a healthy person by the end. But then to see how much he reverts to his manipulative, greater than thou personality when he’s back in the city is kind of depressing. Makes sense though. When you’re reminded that you’re still in chains, nothing is going to seem quite as nice as freedom.

You hit the nail on the head right there. When you're in a situation that reminds you of trauma, you revert back regardless of how much healing you've done. Its really tough to not do that and Astarion has not had the time to do that work yet.

Yea well he's really set on ascending. I can't blame him after 200 years that he simply can't make a good decision on his own and you have to win a roll for it or take the choice away from him. His trauma vs other companions is just not comparable.

This game should allow invasions like the Souls games, so that my army of voluntarily anemic horndog nerds can spawn and rise up to defend even NPC Astarions against any and all threats.

​@@Kyra-qn3nh Nah you don't have to avoid the other spawns. In my last playthrough I came across them and triggered this scene anyway.

I have always thought that you need to go and meet his siblings in the Flophouse, so they know that he is here... and then go to the Lower city. And what I do is - I always rent the room in the Elfsong tavern and sleep 2 times there without doing anything else in the city and you get the scene. Be careful not to go and discover the palace cuz it breaks it and you wont get it. If you see the door in the sewers or up in the guards tower above the WP then you break it and they wont come.

whether you meet these other spawn in the city on your own or not doesn't matter, all you need to do is rent a room in the Elfsong tavern and it will happen either way

I agree with you... I did it as well when I played a Tav who romanced Karlach. Not romancing him makes it better to Ascend him. But if you are romancing him he is a bit different as AA.
