It's the timeless subject of 15 minutes of fame, even more relevant now which makes this skit so funny.

This sketch was LIGHT YEARS ahead of its time but boy is it spot on. Not all news media is bad but in this day and age of people thinking everyone wants to hear what they have to say, this unfortunately happens too often. Remember, Balloon boy?

This confirms that Carol Burnett is a Superb Actress and Comedian...no one today can match her Talent !
@countrymonkOSB8 жыл бұрын
What's brilliant about this sketch is how touching she actually is the first time she recounts the story and how brilliantly she hams it up later, when she gets the chance. Carol Burnett can be touching and incredibly hysterical in the same five minutes span. Just watch the "Family" sketches and you see how she can do both

Carol was simply a brilliant comedienne, who has NOT yet seen anyone of her caliber this day and age! The whole cast was just hilarious, brilliantly acted, and I haven't seen even one episode that wasn't just stellar in acting ability. Of course i had my favorites in the cast, but they were all very good. Same with "Mama's Family" and that cast, although not quite as good as the CBS, still great clean comedy that has NO competition today!

Carol and Harvey are pure comic/melodrama gold. "Mrs. Ferguson" no doubt gleaned her acting chops from watching Bette Davis on the late, late movie. Marvelous Carol Burnett, thank you so very much.

Carol's talent and brilliance as a natural born actor will never be equalled by thebso called actors of today in Hollywood, especially those who claim they are comedians...Carol is in a league of her own, a masterclass of her own...💜💜💜

This skit is one of the more unique ones on the show. And it holds up to today's standards of how everyone wants their 5 minutes of fame and how they grandstand when they know they are on camera...like today's supposed reality shows that are anything but reality. This skit pokes fun at that, some 40 years ahead of it's time. AMAZING, and freaking hilariously funny!

LOL - the range of her acting - from the sincerity at the beginning to the hyperbolic affectations at the end. That’s why she’s the icon! Plus she saw right where we were headed! LOL

I think of all the moments Carol and my dad shared outside of Went with the Wind and Torchy Song this was one of their best moments together in their 10 years, If they gave emmys for 1 performance from the academy Carol would have won.The Cop is actually my uncle/family friend of ours Brad Trumbull who was a golfing bud of my dada along with Mclean Stevenson.This sketch proved that Carol had no limitations as a performer which is what she said about my dad on the last show.

The camera man was one of the real ones on her show. In some of the early seasons (late 60's), when she is doing her Q&A at the start of the show, he will holler something off in the distance and she and him would trade hilarious barbs back and forth. One time he said something to her and then a little girl in the audience said to Carol " If he's such a smart mouth, why don't you just fire him" Carol and the cameraman both lost it laughing and the camera guys said " Because she still hasn't paid me" and Carol said " That's because your not sober enough to count it". The whole cast and crew of the Burnett show were like family and loved each other.
