When the couple broke up the victim had sole custody and cut her ex off from seeing the child or talking to her (because the Ex was secretly calling the child without her mother’s permission)

Why would they? You can tell from both grandparents that they're really stiff and too authoritarian/old school: They didn't support their daughter's needs and were also homophobic. Since they have no close relationship with the granddaughter upon never meeting her and being adopted, they see no reason to adopt the child. It's crazy, but you do have cold-blooded parents out there like that.

She probably could have jumped further, but when they say ‘jump’ they are referring to her killing herself by walking off the balcony rather than literally jumping off. I think it was based on probability. When you commit suicide, you often walk or fall off. It’s not common for a suicide victim to leap as far as they can off a small balcony. So if she had no outside help, she likely would have fallen closer to the balcony and landed on the roof. Where as if she was pushed the force would have taken her past the roof.

She tried to claim self defense but she never called 911 and she snatched the little girl and tried to leave town with her when she got caught

Hi a kid with far too much time on his hands here. The woman who died, her mother, and the other woman, her mom. Well her mother and her mom could have just fallen out of love it probably isnt that simple. When they talk to the grandparents and the grandparents basically say that they didin't support their daughter for being gay that most likely means her mother had some interalized homophobia. So what most likely happened is that overtime she started to think more and more about what the grandparents said it made her hate the relationship so much that she left. She probably wanted to cross it all out of their life bc she was ashamed. - your welcome

Isabella, is alive, now 18 and a legal adult, and apparently choosing to stay in Nicaragua.
