Dr Barnard is 68 years old and looks at least 20 years younger. He's an excellent walking advertisement for the many benefits of a plant based diet.
@kindredcreativecorner69272 жыл бұрын
While I agree he looks good but 20 years younger..ok that is a stretch. No shade Dr Bernard your intelligence is so much more appealing than any number. This was great as I sit here in a hospital with my husband in surgery getting a stone removed. I am wfpb and he refuses to join me completely on that journey. I do not dispare as he is eating more fruits, veggies, wholegrain , nuts etc than in the past because he is just not gonna cook for himself daily. If I cook it will be made the way I can eat it no compromise. Maybe this will be his wakeup call. Let's be ☺ hopeful.

@@kindredcreativecorner6927 Eating more fruits and veggies and grains etc. will only exacerbate his kidney stone formation. The only thing that helps break down kidney stones is lemon juice. Try it and read about the poisonous oxalates, which are only found in plant based food and are what kidney stones are made of!!!

I wanted to add to 3 or 4 topics, but I don't remember them all now that half an hour has passed, so I'll comment on two. 1) Caffeine may not contribute to kidney stones, but oxalates do. Black tea can be a significant contributor to dietary oxalates. A gallon a day may be excessive. Green or white tea is lower in oxalates. 2) Diet sodas may not contribute to kidney stones, but the excess phosphorous in sodas can impair overall kidney function.

I can drink offer with no problem to my stomach but if I try to drink any black tea or caffeinated teas, surprisingly even decaf ones, I get very nauseated. 🤢

Ah!! I wished I’d seen this earlier. I had stones last year, and 2 surgeries that were the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. Went completely plant based in July. Urine values were all normal except PH was 6.5, just outta “normal range”. UA from January several values were high, still looking for advice on prevention.

I am 77, can testify that eating the carnivore diet with frequent beef with whole cheese, red wine and pretty much zero plant foods, with additional calcium magnesium zinc D3 supplements has kept me out of the hospital. Dr. Stephen Gundry and Sally Norton's information on oxalates are VERY important! Also, drinking coffee and red wine and having frequent cheese plus maybe an extra magnesium supplement is my key to staying out of the hospital.

Kidney stones can be a big problem eating lots of vegan foods, like spinach, nuts and seeds(they have a huge oxalate content), if you are not absolutely staying on your hydration game(at least 8 cups of water a day). Most of us here probably aren't 100% vegan, so the inclusion of those animal proteins also means we have to watch our hydration even more.

Kidney stones can be also prevented by controlling urine pH to something close to 7. not sure what is ideal, actually, . Water, fruits, and vegetables raise pH. High protein foods (rice, seeds, etc.) lower it slightly but not a lot. Stress and carbonated soft drinks dramatically lower pH. Best bit is to buy urine pH strips and reduce stress and adjust diet so it is somewhat green.

Eating calcium supplements or A lot of plant milk with it? Eating a lot of protein? Eating a lot spinach beet rubarb? raw greens? It could possibly be that you ate junk for too many years and they built up and just been sitting statically, without moving, now your eating things which break them and they are moving. That's when they can scrape and hurt. Have you been drinking enough water? Or a lot of salt. It's dehydrating
@brinho1093 жыл бұрын
@@ksitigarbha9787 I think my issue was not drinking enough water. I may have to take a closer look at how much sodium are in some of my seasonings too. The majority of my protein comes from legumes and tofu. I went on a whole plant based diet at 18. I wonder if, like you said, I had the stones before. Even kids get stones but I find it odd it took all that time to find its way out. Though I'm unaware that diet could break down any particular kind of stone. I eat spinach(mostly frozen) very regularly. I currently try to avoid it when I can and I eat kale instead. I don't take calcium supplements, and I drink plant milks maybe 1-4 times a month. I don't eat junk food but on some holidays through out the year I'll have a beyond burger or some other meat replacement or so called junk food.
