Naruto was actually quite the shinobi, he was quick on his feet and could pull off intelligent feats in battle rather quickly, even when he hit Gaara with the thousand years of death using the Kunai, then got smacked by the shukaku arm, only for us to realise there was an explosive tag on the Kunai, detonating and hurting Gaara, was a high Iq move since the Kunai attack was just to get the explosive tag close enough while having it remain hidden. After the 3 year timeskip Naruto was far more intelligent in battle than he was before, and he could even use weapons, shown when he unsheathed Sais blade and used it to disarm the cloud shinobi who were seemingly proficient in Kenjutsu , which was likely taught to him by jiraiya since jiraiya would’ve suspected that orochimaru would Teach Sasuke to wield a sword.

2:24 Not gonna lie, I love that Naruto took charge, especially during the 4th Great Ninja War when Naruto, Sasuke and Saruka were standing on the big stone and he was in the middle giving orders like he was the leader. It shows how far Naruto has came and it made me proud to see his growth.

Bruh he isn’t great at strategising, unlike Sasuke or Boruto or Shikamaru. He basically uses his excess chakra to make shadow clones and pulls off something. The thing he’s really good at is being persistent and righteous to a fault (saving lives against tailed beast attacks, going after Sasuke etc). Calling Naruto a strategist in front of Kakashi, Minato etc is trash

People harp on him using the same jutsu multiple times even though most character are known for that. In fact most character get their nicknames from the jutsu they spam. Also he's a bit of a goof, unlike serious characters like Itachi, who barely has any genius feats other than spamming the Sharingan but is accepted as a genius.

You have changed my mind on the subject. I did not think Naruto was a battle genius. I just thought he had some good, spur-of-the-moment ideas from time to time. But you proved to me that Naruto consistently has some brilliant strategies. He also improved his tactical abilities tremendously, as well. I guess I always think of Naruto summoning a bunch of shadow clones as a crutch he uses. It also doesn't help that all his strategic genius seemingly disappears when he fights against Sasuke.

I thought this was established a long time ago as far as part 1, actually. Many people would say he spams clones, but a tactician would use every advantage they could. And shadow clones synergism is a general's wet dream with little to no logistical presence which is expendable to boot. Pair it up with more than decent Taijutsu and he can smack down with the best of them. Heck, if we didn't scale up ninjutsu here, shadow clones would be enough for him and he'll be broken.

Naruto’s need for hard work came from not knowing where he was from. Artificial difficulties in chakra control imposed on a child at a time when it’s not only a fundamental part how they are viewed by others as well as how they view themselves. On top of an entire pysopp to influence how a child is viewed by the entire village.😅 Atreus came down with a life threatening illness because he did not know or understand his nature.

I HATE how people downplay the Pain fight trying to say Kurama did everything. 15 year old Naruto was throwing hands with Pain in a straight 1v6 and fucking CLAPPING him, dude took out 5/6 with no help from Kurama, then stood on even ground in a 1v1 against Deva Path without Kurama and defeated him. Sure, Kurama healed him and put him back into the fight, but Naruto won fair and square and I HATE how people try to minimize that. He showed how much of a genius he is in that fight

Sasuke is smarter and more skilled. With that skill, he can accomplish a lot//pull off very complicated strategies. But Naruto is like a wild card. I'd bet on Naruto when facing off with any threat. His genius lies in his adaptability and seeing the path to victory through unpredictable strategies.

@@Kidomaki I'm specifically talking about during the Boruto series, but you can definitely view what I said as a meta narrative to infer about the future of the franchise after Boruto. I personally think that after Boruto, shueisha/shonen jump will remake OG Naruto, then at some point after they will make a Naruto franchise equivalent of DB Super and/or reboot that doesn't follow the same story path as the original 700 chapters of Naruto. I don't think Boruto is the end of the franchise in the slightest, and I fully expect the focus of the franchise to go back to Naruto, but I don't think they'll move forward in the timeline, but rather go backwards and take a different path with the story. I wouldn't be surprised due to the difference in success between Naruto and Boruto that the people in charge at shueisha/ Shonen Jump already have plans to go back to Naruto after Boruto ends. Hopefully, Kishimoto will stay involved rather than just greenlighting it. Sorry for the essay.

….. this video bothers me deeply … i used to say things like naruto is a genius, because he would get wicked and wild ..in pt 1 he would make that face…or does it make me feel bad because i bought into the genius of hard work trope (got suckered by it)…but then the whole show and even naruto stepped on it into the dirt. true genius is terrifying …. the “genius” …(special) people in the show turned out to be demigods … though they did revisit the genius of hard work with gai sensei vs madara…… i really fell for the genius of hard work….i mean i really fell for it in martial artism to the point of bleeding from my skin sweating blood during training… and the show, not even progressing through martial artism corrected naruto, by making naruto a demi-god, who just seemed dumb when younger but improves in all facets as he gets older (ashura) so yes as an adult naruto is a genius demi-god … not a genius of hard work

I wouldn’t call a lot the examples as “genius” smart or unexpected but not genius must of these things are actually very basic IQ things in battle. A genius in battle would be more like doing stuff no other human could possibly come up with.
