My family does this thing where every time Bohemian Rhapsody plays on the radio, we all sing along. I always end up singing the “I’m just a poor boy, nobody loves me” part, then the others join in with “he’s just a poor boy, from a poor family.” It’s fun. Sometimes, when one of us has a friend in the car, they’d be very weirded out by everyone singing along. I find their confusion funny.

I completely agree with you on the whole "God" thing. I think that another point to add is that by labeling some artists as "musical gods", we're basically implying that their level of mastery can't be reached, when in fact, it can very much be achieved through a LOT of hard work and practice. It's almost like we're saying "Don't even bother trying, you'll never be as good as them".

I'm a huge Queen-fan myself. I know it's probably the go-to answer, but Bohemian Rhapsody is easily my favorite Queen song. Such a masterpiece, nothing else to say. I highly enjoy a lot of their earlier works, but the intensity of some of their later songs when Freddie was seriously ill, are totally off the charts. It sure helps to know he killed "The Show Must Go On" in one take after a shot of whiskey, that's just badass on a whole different level. You know he was barely able to sing anymore and you listen to this song and you wonder just how the hell did he pull that off? I really like "I want it all", too. Great song. :)

It's funny because "ca ca" (caca) means shit in spanish hahaha And about considering artists as gods, I recently met Dave Grohl, and a friend of mine who also knew him, when he first saw Dave he kneel down and told him "you are God", Dave replied "c'mon, I'm just a human being". Ok,first time watching any of your videos and I got two things to say: Fist, love your voice and chill attitude. Second I completely agree with not elevating people and worshiping them and it being unhealthy. Not just with musicians, with sports players (and other celebrities too). Like, the love that argentinians and italians have for Maradona es beyond unhealthy and creepy. I mean, people took him their daughters so he could take their virginity away. I mean, that's disgusting. Anyways, subscribing.

wow that thing with the daughters is crazy and sick. i heard in an interview the Beatles once did that said that John Lennon started getting a bit put off with the whole beatlemania thing the moment people started bringing their sick so that a beatle would touch them and they would be cured. that is insane. to think we humans can get to such a low level of thinking and overzealous idolotry that we are blind to what we do. i love rock and have my favorite bands : 1)the Beatles, 2) Queen. but i draw the line between respect and admiration to full on god-like worship.

Actually many people followed Chester Bennington because he was so human. He poured his heart and soul out through his music...which connected to many and practically save many lives too. I don't think anyone (or at least I didn't) elevated him to "god" status. He was very talented just like many other artist before and after his time. Besides if we are talking about "god" elevation status on artist I think Beyonce is the one who has to much of it.

Bohemian rhapsody was a good song, but I don't know why everyone loses their minds when it starts playing. I feel like they have better songs than it. My personal favorite is Don't Stop Me Now. Another thing that bothers me is how everyone kind of ignores most of the band. Whenever anyone talks about Queen they always talk about how great Freddy was and how he was such an amazing singer and song writer. Maybe they'll say something about Brian May but it seems like people forget that John Deacon and Roger Taylor even existed. Deacon wrote Another one bites the dust and you're my best friend, and Taylor is credited with writing Radio Ga Ga. Queen was more than just Freddy.

The thing about Radio Ga Ga is that it takes a great performer to pull it off, and/or an audience that knows what to do in the chorus. The studio version is very "clean" but enjoyable. It would be great to see reactions to the odd songs, the things heard on the "Deep cuts" albums. The hits are good, but slightly overplayed.

This video is the reason why I subscribed to your channel, dude! Queen is my favorite band and I enjoyed your commentary on them. Musically speaking, you know your shit pretty well :) On a side note: while Freddie claimed he never took singing lessons, his musical education was as a pianist, and I believe it had a bit to do with his ability to give flavor to his vocal harmonies: since you can't do that on the piano because you cannot change the tuning for every key every time you play a different chord, so he had more freedom to optimize and manipulate the harmonies with his vocals because he could see what was lacking those harmonies on the piano. This is just my personal theory and I may be waaay off, but at least that's what happens to me whenever I switch from playing the piano to the trombone (if I play a major chord with 2 other trombonists, I always tune the 3rd note a bit lower because I noticed that a major chord on the piano has a bit of dissonance that resolves with a lowered major 3rd degree). Rock on!

All three of my kids (16, 12 & 11) adore Queen. It seriously warms my heart and I totally agree with you. There's hope. Also, your thing about Lady Gaga, you nailed. She has the potential to completely change the game...and it nauseates me that she doesn't do it already. We all need something different.
