This show would never last with the attention span of today's youth, which is sad because the concept is brilliant. Rewatching these old shows, I only now realize how much I was learning from television back then. Kept me entertained and instilled so many good values.

That's untrue. I was a kid when this was on and we didn't have shit for an attention span. Kids are the same no matter what.

LOL 2:56 our host gives a very telling shrug of indifference to the critic. Nobody likes critics but what can you do? This was such a great show. Getting kids to think hard and fairly from an outside point of view, to help us be better able to rationally judge our own personal conflicts in hopefully the same manner. And a quick lesson for all of you aspiring stars out there; Never *ever* date, mingle, or be at-all chummy with a critic!! :p

it's sad that the culture today is about not disagreeing with people because the risk of negatively impacting them is too great and/or outweighs the benefits of disagreement... Obviously the idea of safe spaces is warranted but with nuance and within reason.

There was one episode of Kids' Court where 1 of the kid actors was played by Chris Lobban before he played Kevin St. James on Welcome Freshmen.

I am 32 years old, college educated w/multiple degrees, have watched many court cases/depositions/testimonies and I never truly understood what slander meant until this episode of kids court. Honestly if these kids ran the entire judicial system the United States would be a better place. #gavelbuster #nastycritic Henry was just mad that Sarah dumped him when he asked her to get nasty on his D!

I vaguely remember this show. I just remember as a kid, there was an early morning show before I went to pre-school where there was a lot of talking, shouting to a skeleton and a big hammer. Took me a little to find it.

This is a "Case of the Nasty Critic" episode aired in early '89 from the American Kid's Court show on Nickelodeon (United States). On this episode, the plaintiff is Sarah & the defendant is Henry. 🇺🇲 🇺🇲

I remember this show! I was just a kid then but liked it. I remember this one case they had about a girl taking her brother to Kids Court because he found her diary lying out, so he sat down and read it. They even allowed him to read some of it in court,...OUT LOUD! She burying her face in her hands as he was reading it because it was so humiliating for her! Funny to watch! XD I think that her brother was found guilty.

I never even heard of Kids Court until I stumbled on to Nerdist, then I relized way back when, NICKELODEON made a version of this show! Back when everyone said that Nickelodeon was on fire! (Today's shows on Nick's got a hell of a bunch of shoes to fill in....and no, I am not a 80s kids, or 90s kid, I happen to have been born from Dec 2. 2000, but i've seen the stuff Nick put on back then and I'll admit.........i'm impressed.)

Rude much? Just because somebody was born in the decades before twerking (originally called breakdancing, but enfused nowadays with more hip grinding and provocatively suggestive gyrations, thanks to recent musical influences), 72-day marriages, constant shootings & gang wars based around racial prejudice, and a worse economy only outranked by The Great Depression...does NOT make them (us) any better. Each generation has its good and bad points.

I was born in 75' and my peers and myself said the exact same shit as Jacob Jones. In general, every generation thinks their generation is way better than the generation before them and so on. Now, the generation before us pretty much finds us annoying as fuck because of what we do and of course, how we think we're better than them because we're "hip" and they're a bunch square's trying to hold onto the past. I got news for you. One day, we will all become that square trying to hold onto the past, because trying to party with your kids and their chums makes you look like an even bigger douche. Unless of course they're all minors and you're buying the booze. No I don't buy my kids or their friends booze. Yes, I'm that square. So basically we all pretty much have the same thing in common, only it takes a while before people actually get it. Give the kid a break and always proof read your comments before posting them if you're stoned.

When the students get to middle and high school social studies, civics, American govermment/American history, they will learn about the First Amendment. They will see that there are some limits: fighting words are excluded. Also, you cannot shout "fire" in a crowded theater if there is no fire. They will also maybe learn defamation of character, slander, and libel. Chris Metafora social studies educator.

What a liar, the host is still alive and well and working. This show was good for kids at the time, maybe the host wasn't fit for the show and the show is possibly cheesy by today's standards, but it was good back in the day. From what I see in today's kids programming, Kids Court was better.

The guy is guilty. He wouldn't have said what he said if they were together. Males always want to get back at women when they break off the relationship. There's criticisms and nastiness. He was nasty and brought his own personal feelings in. Adding moose and vacuum was unnecessary. He could have said she sucked in a professional way but he wanted to hurt her because she dumped him. Justice was not served! The kids didn't know what they were voting for.

Actually, kids back then were NOT as in a rush to be IN relationships like everyone presumed AND our entertainment/overall media showed. Face it, real kids WEREN'T like Fifteen, Welcome Freshman, Saved By the Bell, Dawson's Creek, etc. they were more quirky and awkward, like Melissa Joan Hart as Clarissa Darling, who "explains it all" when it came down to adolescence.
