This is the only cover version of Fade Into You that I've listened to the whole way through. Not only that, but I've been listening to it on repeat for the last hour, so just thought I'd leave a comment to say thanks, and to let you all know what an utterly fantastic arrangement this is. With all the other covers I've heard, there's always something that's too 'dominant' or too 'different', whether it's the rhythm guitar strumming too abrasively, or the slide guitar improvising when it shouldn't, or the drummer adding unnecessary fills, or the lead vocalist trying too hard to make the melody their own. This is the only cover that gets everything right, the whole way through, without one instument/voice trying to be the star of the show, and all while not coming across like it's trying to copy the original exactly. It has its own identity and charm, thanks in large part to the outstanding young musicians who execute their parts flawlessly throughout. You've managed to capture the essence of a song whose essence is virtually impossible to capture. Thank you for sharing this with us!!

I love the singer's voice. She sings well and is well connected to the song. The best part, she STILL sounds like a kid. She's not trying to pretend to be an adult. She's signing in her true vocal range and voice. Which is why is sounds so effortless when it obviously is not. Some singers, like Angelina Jordan, are born sounding like an old soul and have the vocal cords and connection to make it work. But for most kids, they should STILL sound like kids. This just shows that these guys are teaching healthy vocal techniques and that these young folks are talented. Nice seeing a girl on the drums. My fav drummer right now and for the past 2 or so years has been Paulina Villarreal from the sister rock band The Warning. They are amazing! Go check them out.

Had to keep commenting: Izzie's voice is *amazing*. Everyone does gorgeously here -- and it's such a good song for an ensemble. Was especially blown away by her, Josh on the slide and (while Carrick(?) is stealing the show a little in front of him - omg), Jameson is KILLING IT on the bass, which is so important in this song. SO good, one of my favorite songs and it's perfect.

Oh my gosh, what an incredible cover! This brought me back to a night in 1996 just before graduation. A very dear lady friend asked me to give her a ride to a mutual friend’s birthday party, and when she got in the car, she popped this into the tape deck. As we drove from Mahopac to our friend’s house on the reservoir, she rolled down the window and let her hair down. It was sunset, and she was so beautiful. She looked over at me and smiled, and neither of us said a word. From my perspective, we shared a moment of kinship and platonic love of warm late-spring evenings in New York. From her end of things, she was hoping I would see her differently, and she could hop out of the friend zone. At any rate, we had a lovely evening, and after graduation she moved to Oregon, and I never saw her again. I’m happily married to my wife, but I feel like I let my old friend down. We had been friends since we were in pre-school, so I wasn’t interested in romance. What a great friend she was!

@filthybstard10 ай бұрын
Reading this and listening to this rendition was perfect. Of the ups and downs in life, it's moments like these that matter to me and I'm lucky to recognise and appreciate them. So you never saw her again, sad, but I bet it adds to the magic of the story and recollection. I had a wonderful friend in my late teens, early twenties, curly dark hair and dark eyes, sense of humour, we liked the same things, we saw the absurd in life and laughed at it, we felt connected in our uniqueness, it just felt right in every way. She was not perfect, neither am I, but I dug her man, right to my core. Then she called (back in the landline days) to meet in a neutral place where she said it was over, she 'had to find herself'. I think we still live in the same small town, but I've not seen her in over 30 years, but I still think of her often. I have no idea of what became of her. I went off the rails at first, but very quickly rationalised the whole thing and got over it. But what still hurts to this day, I miss my friend.
