As a vegetarian myself i really don't understand the obsession with vegetarian food that looks/tastes like meat/fish. The point of being vegetarian is to not eat that stuff. Also, I would have liked it better if you would have just given them the vegan food without telling them that there is something "special" about it and then seen their reaction. Because that is what most of us grew up on - our taste evolved into liking to eat meat as we were fed animal products from birth practically. Most people don't go vegetarian or vegan because they don't like the taste of meat, they do it for ethical or health reasons. So If i can eat a burger that tastes the same as I remember a beef burger to taste I will eat it because an animal did not have to die for me.

I honestly do not blame children. When children think vegan, they think "healthy" which is automatically gross in the mind of a child. But when you're a vegan, or even vegetarian, you should not depend on meat substitutes. You should branch out and experiment with different vegetables and recipes! Exactly, I eat a lot of beans, chickpeas, lentils and other pulses, I've had a few meat substitutes but they aren't all that great; I feel like it's a lot easier being vegan if you're able to cook, so in that respect I'm quite lucky, but it isn't that difficult to learn how to make simple, delicious meals using veg, pulses, tofu, rice, pasta, etc, it's just a great opportunity to branch out and try lots of new things.

It seems people react to those videos because they're cruel, not just disgusting. It's a matter of "would you pay someone to do this kind of cruelty?" I hope these kids realize that "vegan food" is literally the same thing they would eat on a normal day. Do they eat apples or bananas? Beans, rice, salads? All vegan. These mock meats and cheeses are mostly transitional foods for people who aren't ready to give up meat and dairy. a lot of vegans don't even eat these products, at least in my experience.

I was the opposite lol. The first couple years I was vegan didn't involve any fake meats or cheeses, and I was really focused on eating clean. However now I absolutely love trying new processed vegan products, though I try to limit the consumption due to cost and health. I do like to taste test every new product at least once though. It's exciting.

vegan food isn't just meat replacements it's plants, so fruits vegetables anything that grows on a tree or out the ground not counter fit meat labeled vegan but that does not mean you can't eat them its good to mix them in with lots of stuff not just on a vegan meat diet

I know they're kids, but just because they're told one is vegan, some of them automatically assume that one is delicious and the other will be repulsive. A few of these kids that actually give both an honest assessment, will do very well into adulthood if the continue being this open-minded

Of course they care, most kids can be highly empathetic if you just let them. I agree that it would've been a good idea to inform them why people eat plant-based solely, because maybe then some of the kids wouldn't have reacted as.. disgusted I guess is the word. It just gives them the wrong impression, I think, to serve them these almost equally looking foods and let them compare. They could've also cooked proper vegan meals to show how nice those can be. But yeah, I'm babbling again.

+Leah Unfeigned We have different opinions of what closed-minded/open-minded means. It doesn't take much effort to 'try' something. But some kids/adults would take a nibble of the food to taste as little of the food as possible or go into the eating process with the intention of not liking the food. That's what I define as being closed-minded. Unless the food was really good that it made the answer obvious, those reactors aren't really giving the food a real chance in my opinion. You seem to think they are open-minded just because they tried it.

+Leah Unfeigned I kinda get what you're saying, but I just don't know where you're getting that I consider dislike as being closed-minded. I literally explain in my last comment that I consider the ones that nibble the food (not enough to get a good taste of the food) and the ones that are obviously hating on the food without giving it a chance (eg like the girl in this video who spat out the foods just because she assumed they were vegan) as the closed-minded ones. It's fine if the reactors dislike the food. If they don't like it, they don't like it. As long as they seem to be giving the food a chance, I'd label them as open-minded. As I said earlier, my definition of being open-minded seems to be a little more specific than yours just because I don't think trying the food is enough to label them as open-minded, especially when these Reactors know by eating the food, they will be on the React video.

I always like cooking, but I give props to vegans and such who try to find work around so they could eat stuff that they normally wouldn't or couldn't. The creativity that they put to create the perfect replica foods is fun... although don't always end up good. lol Still... A for Effort. Especial when some of the replacements actually taste better than the original.

As someone who eats alot of vegan food but still isnt vegan, there can be quite a bit of difference between some brands that do the same things for example meatballs or chicken style things. So just like you choose what pizza restaurant u like better, try different vegan brands of food! :D (some are really good, some are straight down disqusting)

i see a lot of people saying "vegan doesn't mean healthy" & while that rings true it applies with meat & animal products as well. it's about finding a diet that suits your body, if it includes needing extra protein that's ok. if it includes needing a plant based diet that's ok too
