As a vegetarian myself i really don't understand the obsession with vegetarian food that looks/tastes like meat/fish. The point of being vegetarian is to not eat that stuff. Also, I would have liked it better if you would have just given them the vegan food without telling them that there is something "special" about it and then seen their reaction. Because that is what most of us grew up on - our taste evolved into liking to eat meat as we were fed animal products from birth practically. Most people don't go vegetarian or vegan because they don't like the taste of meat, they do it for ethical or health reasons. So If i can eat a burger that tastes the same as I remember a beef burger to taste I will eat it because an animal did not have to die for me.

I honestly do not blame children. When children think vegan, they think "healthy" which is automatically gross in the mind of a child. But when you're a vegan, or even vegetarian, you should not depend on meat substitutes. You should branch out and experiment with different vegetables and recipes! Exactly, I eat a lot of beans, chickpeas, lentils and other pulses, I've had a few meat substitutes but they aren't all that great; I feel like it's a lot easier being vegan if you're able to cook, so in that respect I'm quite lucky, but it isn't that difficult to learn how to make simple, delicious meals using veg, pulses, tofu, rice, pasta, etc, it's just a great opportunity to branch out and try lots of new things.

Of course they care, most kids can be highly empathetic if you just let them. I hope these kids realize that "vegan food" is literally the same thing they would eat on a normal day. Do they eat apples or bananas? Beans, rice, salads? All vegan. These mock meats and cheeses are mostly transitional foods for people who aren't ready to give up meat and dairy. a lot of vegans don't even eat these products, at least in my experience.

I was the opposite lol. The first couple years I was vegan didn't involve any fake meats or cheeses, and I was really focused on eating clean. However now I absolutely love trying new processed vegan products, though I try to limit the consumption due to cost and health. I do like to taste test every new product at least once though. It's exciting.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I never eat any of that, also because it's pretty expensive to buy pre prepared foods like that where O live. I do eat vegan Icecream and meat looking amd tasting lentil, garbanzo and bean patties though, but I make them myself always.

As someone who eats alot of vegan food but still isnt vegan, there can be quite a bit of difference between some brands that do the same things for example meatballs or chicken style things. So just like you choose what pizza restaurant u like better, try different vegan brands of food! :D (some are really good, some are straight down disqusting)

I know they're kids, but just because they're told one is vegan, some of them automatically assume that one is delicious and the other will be repulsive. A few of these kids that actually give both an honest assessment, will do very well into adulthood if the continue being this open-minded

I always like cooking, but I give props to vegans and such who try to find work around so they could eat stuff that they normally wouldn't or couldn't. The creativity that they put to create the perfect replica foods is fun... although don't always end up good. lol Still... A for Effort. Especial when some of the replacements actually taste better than the original.

When I saw her reactions I was like: You're just stupid. Just because it says vegan your dont even give it a chance and say its not good. I was statisfied when they changed the plates and she spat out the real meat instead of the vegan counterpart. I'm a omnivore myself, and I've tried some vegan steaks from my friends. I liked it, doesnt taste like normal steak, but it has its own nice taste.
