Being a mum of two boys, you have to occasionally laugh at kids mostly for the silliest reasons. I remember my youngest having a full-blown argument with his plastic phone in baby talk :D.

Also when a parent freaks out with concern from their child falling down the child often mimics that concern and starts crying.. but if the parent laughs, so does the kid and they keep playing As well as being information sponges, they're also emotion sponges and reflect the mood of people around them
@jh89143 жыл бұрын
Yes!! They’re built that way to withstand damage lol. That’s actually why it’s so concerning and abuse is almost immediately looked into first when small kids break bones/have serious injuries because most of the time it couldn’t have happened just from a simple fall and would have had to come from a much larger force. It’s very sad :( but the more you know.

@MiaMaria202 жыл бұрын
It's not funny to laugh when your kid falls. In most cases they cry and gladly I never see a parent laughing when their kids are hurt or smth. What do you teach kids? Laughing about others pain is ok. Nice world ;)
@faithcatalan64792 жыл бұрын
@@MiaMaria20 of course you dont laugh if they're seriously hurt, and also not like full out breaking out in laughter like a sociopath. But the reason kids often freak out when they take a big tumble is because people around them flip out. If you behave lightheartedly and reassure them that they aren't dieing when they get a scrape or bump, it teaches how to handle injury without panic and fear, which are the negative factors in accidents that can make things worse.
@faithcatalan64792 жыл бұрын
@@MiaMaria20 parents and most adults can tell the difference in severity, so I dont appreciate you assuming I say this for malicious reasons. Similarily to when Sean laughs, it isnt the injury that is funny, its the situation of the child learning how to control their movements and having these trial and error moments, that is a bit humorous after the fact.
@MiaMaria202 жыл бұрын
@@faithcatalan6479 That's true, but there is a difference between what you say and to be calm and such or to really laugh about it. In my experience in most cases a child cries, even if it wasn't this serious. Imagine for example the typical accident almost everybody knows: "hurting" your toe on the bed or whatever and then imagine someone laughs. I mean yes it can look funny but it doesn't really feel like this cause it still hurts a bit. In these clips some falls looked harmless but not all. And don't forget the psychological impact it also has to teach a child to laugh when others fall.... Mobbing and such is such a big thing in schools etc. I think it's not cool. Small children can't understand the difference. If as a parent you think it looked funny, just laugh inside or somehow the kid doesn't see it, if yiu have to laugh. Ofc when my kids fall funnily on the bed and just look surprised I laugh and that's ok. I would always look first how the child is feeling about it and then react. Of course never like "Oh my god are you hurt?! Oh gooood" ;)

I watched this yesterday but an experience with my toddler today brought me back. We were walking back home from a long day at daycare and work, she saw a couple with a cute puppy, she was walking backwards while cat calling this puppy and as soon as she turned around she went FACE FIRST CARTOON STYLE into a bush. Funny story: when I tried to ride a bike for the first time without training wheels, my parents were inside the house and I was outside. I decided it would be best if I did it alone, and I built up the courage. We live in the middle of nowhere so I had enough range to practice riding a bike. I sat down on the seat with the bike positioned on a hill nearby my house and thought "this is the day. I will ride my bike without training wheels and I will succeed!" I took off, doing well. I maintained balance and quickly picked up speed. And then it hit me. I never learned how to stop. I kept barreling down the hill on my bike without stop, and I tried to change my direction, but alas... It was too late. I rammed into the corner of the house and fell off my bike, laying there for minutes. My mom walked outside and said "what happened?" I looked at her and said "I crashed my bike." Turns out, the crash shook the house.

I have a funny story of me as a baby (about 18 months) that involves falling. One day my mum was out somewhere so it was just dad and I home alone. He was getting ready in his bedroom and was letting me crawl around on my own (mistake number 1), while also forgetting that we didn't have any sort of baby gate at the top of the stairs (mistake number 2). I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this: little baby me thought he was a big boy who could go down the stairs on his own and the next thing my dad here's is an almighty series of thumps, ending in a crash. He comes running, and what does he see? Does he see my broken and bleeding form and rush me to the hospital? No, he saw me completely uninjured and continuing to crawl away without a care in the world. Moral of the story? As a baby I was apparently invulnerable, also don't leave babies unattended or they'll try to off themselves.

It's funny, we moved from a flat to a house 2 months ago. 2 days in I took my eye off my 13 month old for like 2 seconds and he fell right down the stairs. I panicked more than he did 🙄 by day 4 all 3 kids had somehow fallen down those stairs uninjured. All I could say by the third time was "kids" 🙄🤦♀️ obviously mine weren't trained in the art of stairs for 7yrs 😅

Dang dude. Little kids are pretty resilient because their bodies are super flexible, but even then you were extra lucky to not have fallen down in the wrong way. Maybe not the best comparison but at 4 or 5 years old during ballet class I simply fell over (well, more like tripped by a classmate) and broke an arm. Still have the surgery scars.
