..MODERN thrills, rock'n roll that kills! ....good time livin', ...I guess we'll have to be the best bonfire in hell!....the guitar, crushing lead in this tune, Peter Fredette beside him from this time forward,...WOW!...AWESOME Kim in a breakout solo recording. I was a teen when this came out, met Kim at a record store "release party" for signing and have been a good old Canadian fan of his music ever since. This "cassette" in my deck every summer for years after release, a summer line up of tunes driving north, flyin' up the 400 every summer for a visit to The KEE....yeah, many great memories with my brother, and friends! Thanks Danny for posting this. A fun find!

I was probably there …. Don't think I ever missed a Max Webster or Kim Mitchell @ the Old Coronet …. We were all such BIG FANS (Kitchener ,Waterloo ,Cambridge and surrounding area)and still are … The shows were always amazing and packed with people…. At times we stood on top of the chairs & tables or just banging on the tables... we were so excited to see , hear … Kim with the new band and songs !!! ..... I believe the 1st Kim Mitchell was not even released yet … He was just trying out the new band and new songs to get a feel for our response to the new Kim Mitchell Band and we.... loved it !!!

Cheers Danny. That is some cool stuff. I got to see Max Webster open for Rush at The Bristol Colston Hall in 1979 in the UK. Still, to this day, the best gig I ever attended. Peter Fredette, one of my top 5 bass -players. I learned a lot from him. Subbed.

I had the pleasure of seeing Helix play there in 83. Saw you play with them in Saint John NB. It was the last time I had a long chat with Paul. I hear you're back in the Helix fold. Good to hear!

This song almost made it on David Lee Roth's solo album, "Eat em and Smile". That would have changed Kim"s life for sure! Steve Vai is a big fan of Kim's playing, for good reason... He's right up there with the best of them IMHO.

This time it's the album track playing, no doubt they can play it live, but you can see neither of them are playing the solos at the end.

Lesser known(to Americans) Canadian rock from the 70s and 80s continues to amaze me. From Les Pucks to Teenage Head and Max Webster, I just keep finding more and more great tracks and artists. It's like an entire segment of rock has been hidden from Americans for decades and is slowly filtering out through youtube.

Thanks so much! I didn't think any video of the first incarnation of the Kim Mitchell Band existed until now. I'm assuming this was a promotional video?

This is amazing, quality is great! Thanks so much for the post . Anyone know who's on the kit for this show? I don't recognize him
@relayer435 жыл бұрын
Should be Paul DeLong on drums, Robert Sinclair Wilson on bass and backing vox, and Peter Fredette on extra guitar and backing vox. His best solo career rhythm section by far imo...
@bubkasaurus3 жыл бұрын
@@relayer43 - couldn’t agree with you more! Paul DeLong in particular deserves props as he brought an indescribable gravitas to the band - especially live. No disrespect to any of Kim’s drummers, but I think he would secretly tell you DeLong was his dream drummer. As Colaiuta was to Zappa. I’d love to ask him that some day 🙂

Amazing. Was the audio captured live with the footage, or overlaid and synced from the album? If it's actually live, then it's doubly amazing.

Sorry to disappoint you. We shot two takes in the afternoon after sound check and then shot live footage the night of the show. Lip Sync
