I always ended up bringing tuna packets of my own to the field so the other guys could get the tuna MRE lol. Light weight and thin packets. Some guy always had hot sauce as well.

MRE's are so much better with more content and more variety than when I was on active duty. So funny to watch those ladies eat them and react.

Great video! Although I can say that my personal Taste test with MRE’S was not a volunteer test, in 1983 while assigned the 1st Cav at Fort Hood, we were sent to the field for 3 weeks, to test and evaluate the MRE and the larger company sized pre prepared meal, the heat and eat! Needless to say, in the debrief after the FTX the comments were very harsh. Fortunately I had a couple cases of C Rations in the platoon conex. Hope they have gotten better

I have to admit that I agree with the girls! The MRE's are about a 4 - 5 or even a 5 - 5. They are MUCH BETTER than the C-Rats that were around when I was in the USMC 1978-1980. I loved the "John Wayne Bars". On a historical side note; I was around when there were still a few K - Rats floating around. You want to talk about not very good!!

Boy MREs have changed! We used to acquire Red Hot from dining hall and bring to field. One Ranger said he should write to company and tell them to add red hot lol. He did. Months later we had mini bottles of Red Hot in our MREs! Company listens.

Skittles, what happened to my Army, LMAO...When I first went in in 1978 we had C Rations and I loved the B-3 United boned chicken. After my initial enlistment, I went through ROTC and when I returned to the Army as a 2LT we had the first generation MRE's and I hated them. But if I were in today, those MRE's sound delicious. I envy the modern day soldier. Someone should do a video of modern soldiers or their kids eating C-Rations, that would be hilarious :)

I hate to get all "Back in my day" but do you suede boot wearers have the Nut Cakes in your MRE's still? If not you SO missed out! Chocolate was everybody's favorite and you were the king of the fucking hill if you got an MRE with that one in it. But the maple and cherry nut cakes weren't anything to sneeze at either. Good times and over 3k calories of lower intestinal blockage.
