The kids were in the right. This episode's conflict started because Homer and some other "adults" got drunk and trashed the school. Then, rather than taking responsibility for their actions, they pinned it on kids being rambunctious and an unjust curfew was issued. Ironic that these same adults whine about how kids are immature and irresponsible yet they immaturely got drunk and committed vandalism and failed to own up to their crimes. It just goes to show that age does not guarantee wisdom.

I love how this whole thing shows the conflicts between the generations that have been going on forever and will carry on forever. The funny thing is that from the perspective of today, the kids here were gen X or older millennials, whilst the adults are baby boomers. The oldies are the wartime generation. Other than each generation moving up a group though, nothing has really changed, and won't have changed when the kids of today are the oldies.

I like the message in here that often times adults act like children and when it's time to take responsibility and make up for their mistakes, they hide behind excuses, especially the good old "I earn the money" one. Money doesn't make right and we as adults should strive to lead as good role models, even if that sometimes means our golden idol of ourselves get a little scratch on. Because if we don't, it comes crumbling down entirely, which is very well shown in this scene.

What do teenagers think?
@David-ud9ju5 жыл бұрын
I don't think Springfield has any teenagers. They don't seem to have a high school. The bullies appear a lot older than Bart but they're in his school. I know a lot of schools in America are middle schools so I guess they could be like 14 and have been held back a couple times, which is why they're still in middle school, but there aren't any proper teenagers in Springfield.
