the leashes are used for the kids who like to explore, and disappear the one second you look away, and parents use it to keep track of them. I would suggest it until they turn 2 1/2 to 3, because if they learn that they always will be by their side, they don’t really learn that they need to stay there whether or not they have something that controls them to stay there.

I agree, but kids with developmental disorders sometimes don't learn the responsibility to look out for themselves until later. That's the only reason I think it would be fine past 3 to keep them on a leash.

All children are different, some kids can walk by their parents without running away. Some kids can hold their parents hand with out being upset or still try to run, but a lot of kids don’t. They want to walk/run without holding their parents hand, it doesn’t make them look like “pets”. It’s parents protecting their children, and making sure they don’t run away and/or cause harm or annoy other people.

I wish o had a leash fot my grandson when he was little He has ADHD and high- functioning autism. I'm in a wheelchair so it wasn't always possible to hold his hand, so he was told to hang on to my wheelchair. But if my husband and i stopped to look at something, my grandson would notice something else and just take off. A kid leash would have helped so much. Even now at age 10, he still just wanders off because he finds something interesting. If they made leashes that would fit him now i would be very tempted to get one.

6:36 Hey, the leash can be better safe than sorry. I was leashed as a kid because I hated my hand being held and thought I was a big kid that didn't need guidance. I would wiggle out of being picked up and throw a fit. But... then I'd see a dog and go running into the street to go pet it. The leash saved my life sometimes. A parent can only go so fast. When they're already running into the street, and they don't want to be picked up, they can slip your grasp and it'll be too late.

I know with my little cousin he wants to be completely independent and do everything by himself, so he wears his little leash backpack. But we only hold the leash when crossing roads, on the side walk, in the Lego store (he really like legos), and in the park sometimes when theres large crowds of people. Any other time it looks like hes wearing a regular backpack

When she said "I would just hold their hand" that kinda made me wanna comment. My little brother runs away a lot, he used to climb out of the cart at stores and run off. Holding his tiny hands didn't always work bc he'd wriggle free and holding him would just be annoying. He needed a leash for part of the day when we went to disneyland, but he was so excited that I think he just didn't think about running off. Anyways, hand-holding doesn't always work. Sometimes you have 5 kids and can't run off to chase 1. Sometimes you need a little time to sit but you don't have time.

(For the “leash”) In public places like train stations or something, if your hands are full it’s easier to hold and keep track of them. They have a bit more freedom with the leash backpacks rather than being stuck right next to you. My parents used to used to use them for me and my brother, sometimes the backpacks would be really cute and they would be one of my favourite accessories

About the leash thing, my mom had to use one of my sister until she was about 6. It was a little backpack with a leash attached to it, and if you weren’t holding on to my sister, she would zoom off. She once even just ran straight off the dock we were standing on, got the lights scared out of her, and immediately tried to do it again after she was hauled back up onto the dock

The leash is to make sure that your kid will not walk/run away from you while hour on a call, ordering stuffs etc. I am a businesswoman and at times I will get some really important call while I'm out with my daughter, and I need to make sure they're safe while I'm distracted with my call... It is embarrassing, yes. But it is so much better than getting my toddler kidnapped.

Honestly I thought the same as Gloom about the kid leashes UNTILLLLLL I had a kid! My toddler, who just turned two, is sooo crazy when it comes to walking in outside or in public. He tries to get into everything, run as fast as his little legs can go, and they really do have a way of slipping out of sight very quickly most likely doing something bad. You blink for a millisecond and your toddler is behind, on top of, or underneath something. They can’t be trusted lol. He has a cute little animal plushie backpack with a small lead. I don’t use it in public too often because I don’t feel like being judged, but I always keep it handy for the days when he absolutely refuses to sit in his stroller or hold my hand. Sometimes ya just gotta do what works as a parent and hey, it works…for now 😅

about the leash.... We are 5 kids ,im the middle one, me and my little sister (not the youngest) would always have a wrist leash when we would go shoping because my mom had to look after 5 kids . Me and my little sis had a wrist leash because i have ADHD (we didnt know at the time) so i would always stop to press the pressable stuff, touch or stare at things until ,next thing we know, i got lost. My little sister was an adventurer and would more often then not just drag me with her on her expedition (she was also a dare devil) And so we were sentenced to the leash.

Quick fact: Most fire fighters don’t have the pole anymore, they normally have a 1 story floor. But some older buildings do. Also yesterday I went on a ride that looked small but once you got inside, we were going down 17 m drops, then we went backwards, then there were sharp corners.. and I hate roller coasters..

Parents use the leashes so their kid can’t run off but also bc your kid could be taken the second you look away so it’s just to keep them close and attached so nothing bad happens

the leach thing is fine, my mum did it to me and my brother when we where really little. some kids run away in crowds and even not in crowds so they do it so there kid stays close to them :)

When I was little I would turn towards the street with a big smile and just ran in the street. my parents didn't believe in leashes either... Until I came along. By the way when I ran into the street the cars were still coming and my parents would have to chase after me. Hearing about what my parents had to deal with is hilarious now that I am older.

Some kids like to run off and cause trouble. Leashes prevent that. They come in cute styles though so if you are willing to bear with the embarrassment to protect your kid, it’s worth it. They don’t need them once they,re around 5 or 6, but sometimes they are used for kids with autism. Hope that helps :)

Kids go on leashes since they want to be independent and walk by themselves. The only way to fix that is to put them on a “leash”. They are actually quite popular since most kids don’t like holding their parents hands.

Some kids are really hyper, and love to explore. They can always easily run off without the parents/guardian knowing. That’s why leashes are helpful with younger kids 😂

6:40 i have the answer. Some people have a hard time keeping track of certain kids, especially if they're kids like to sneak off alot, also some parents might not have the best vision or focus like people with adhd which can make it difficult to keep your kid from just running off and going on a little "adventure" when you're not looking.

5:20 ok so back in 6th grade everyone went on a ski trip and since it even has the word in it (SKI trip) we went skiing but first we had to learn how, we had to go up the mountain like walking sideways and what's hilarious is how the person at the top sneezed and lost balance which created a domino effect and almost everyone fell because of that person, also I must say when you first start it's not really easy to balance on them
