Trains at Liverpool South Parkway, WCML - 15/3/19

Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip! Today I am at Liverpool South Parkway on the West Coast Main Line where services are seen by Northern, East Midlands Trains, Virgin Trains and London North Western Railway (brand of TOC West Midlands Trains).
This station looked very modern, it has a lot of very nice modern architecture to it despite it being open for quite some time, the station has definitely been looked after well. In terms of the trains, Liverpool South Parkway offered up a good amount of variety with a very good amount of frequency so no waiting long times for anything. The views were brilliant with a fantastic view of the curve heading out of the station towards Hunts Cross and towards Lime Street, there's a great straight track view although slightly restricted visibility due to the vegetation in the way. Overall a fantastic station, one I would highly recommend.

Great video Kieran!! I think TPE (TransPennine Express) stopped operating there I don't know why I think it might be because they started operating MA (Manchester Airport) Instead. (That is a guess)

Ahh, Liverpool South Parkway. I used this station from brand new (summer 2006) and then subsequent summers until 2012, arriving there on a London Midland (Central Trains for the first two years) 350 after changing from my Arriva Trains Wales 158, and then getting the bus to John Lennon Airport and then a plane to France to visit my grandparents who used to live there :) Of course I did the same in reverse to return haha! I remember the station feeling very new, which I guess it was, especially initially. Same with the 350s. Music was played through the interior zone(s) of the PA - I recall in particular "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" playing, which I was amused by, especially through the 16-driver array column speakers :-P Apparently the station has a cat called Paul, lol...

That's quite the story you have there, quite interesting how they played music through the speakers of the 350, wish they had done that now to liven up the journey on those things. I never saw the station cat. 😂

The answer to the question of the video is Trans Pennine Express who now take the Liverpool to Manchester line via Chat Moss instead of the L and M South line via Warrington

Transpennine express don’t stop there anymore as there services go via vic not picc whereas they used to alternate between the two

So the answer is good old Transpennine express, the May 2018 timetable came into play last year they started to serve Victoria instead of Piccadilly for the Newcastle to Liverpool and Scarborough Liverpool, the reason to this is I think to believe is because of the Piccadilly to Oxford Road corridor being heavily compact and which then made the trains late in each direction, so instead they serve Victoria via Lea Green and Newton Lee willows then the line to Warrington Central

They do indeed. They were both owned by Stagecoach at one point.

SWR was owned by Stagecoach up until 2017 and they had basically the same livery with a few minor differences. The SWT livery will slowly disappear as the remaining unfurbished trains are re-painted.
