Donald Sutherland was a canadian icon and what a tremendous actor he was and his legacy carried down to his son. I lost my dad at age 37 and it’s never easy however the age they are. Beautiful tribute by his son Kiefer. God bless Sutherland family.

Lost my Dad in 2009 at the age of 87. It's been 15 years and the pain is still as intense as it was then and I know it will always be but I find comfort in being lucky enough to have had him in my life. My protector, my rock, is still with me in my mind and soul and someday I will be with him forever, along with Mom. Ohhhh, how I cherish the memories. RIP Donald Sutherland and know that your son loves you very, very much and so does the rest of the world. My condolences to his family and friends and all who loved him. ♥

Kiefer, please accept my sincere sympathies for the passing of your father Donald Sutherland. This is such a beautiful tribute to your father Kiefer. God Bless you 🙏 My mother and I were true fans of your dear father and we loved his movies. Being an American, born to Greek parents living all my life since a year old in Montreal Canada, we were very proud of your father and you being Canadian !!! In the 80's I had a big crush on you, especially after Bay Boy, one of your first movies, a favorite of mine... unfortunately, not a very well known movie, but as a Canuck, yes I have loved you since then !!! Now at 62 years old, the crush has matured into deep admiration and respect for your talent and work. For your more recent work, Designated Survivor is my favorite !!!. Your music talent is awesome Kiefer ! I love the songs you write from the heart. I only wish my mother was still alive, she would have loved your music talent as well. Since I never reliquished my American citizenship, after my mother's passing in 2001, I met and married a Montrealer whose dream was always to move to Florida ! We did moved in 2004 our that same year our son was born In Palm Beach. We are separated for awhile now, but still live in Florida. Being a single Mom wasn't easy but God really does open doors when others close. I found work in the School Board, and have found fullfillment working with the kids 12 years already and still hanging in there !!! My son is now in his Sophomore year at FAU, a Phylosophy Major on a scholarship. The story of my family life ia a little different than other Greek Americans. My parents had come to the U.S in 1958 on an Exchange Program. Not many people know about this program.This program opened up an opportunity for University graduates from various European countries to be able to enter the U.S and vise versa, American University graduates had the opportunity to enter various European countries. The Visa they offered was strickly issued only for 5 years. The candidate would have to leave the U.S or return back to their countries of origin after the 5 years were up !. My parents loved America so much, they decided to move to Canada instead of returning back to Greece. There we lived for the rest of my parents lives. My parents became Canadian Citizens, my sister was born in Montreal in 1967. My fathet's dream was to be a psychiatrist. While still in the U.S. in the exchange program, my father continued his Medical studies towards a psychiatric degree while wrorking as a GP. During that time, he submitted a thesis which is now published and accepted in Medical journals, taught in Universities. When my parents arrived in Montreal in 1963, McGill University accepted my father as a student based on the thesis he wrote ! My dear father has since passed but not until a fullfilling career as a psychiatrist for 40 years before and a lecturer at McGill Unicersity before his retirement. You must be thinking why am I telling you all these details about my family life. After watching Designated Survivor, which you were the excecutive producer, I feel you would be interesed in hearing some not so known immigrant stories, maybe inspiration for another TV series ? !!! You see after watching your beautiful concert today in Nova Scotia, memories were again brought to me of Canada. I always think of my dear mother, who I was very close to, being that my own parents had been separated for 20 years and I lived and was very close to my mother. After she passed away, the months that followed were very difficult. I was somehow drawn to Nova Scotia !!! I booked a train trip for myself and my sister and we visited Nova Scotia, and spent a refreshing week in Nova Scotia visiting all the tourist attractions, learning about the interesting, powerful and tragic history of Nova Scotia. This was a crucial event in my life particularly, giving me a new hope to keep going on, to continue living and giving me hope through the sadness. On our return to Montreal, I had renewed energy ! I was able to complete the difficult task, as excecitir of our Mothrs last will to prepare and sell our family home in T.M.R, a home I loved dearly, where we had lived as a family since 1965. I enrolled in studies for continuing education at Dawson College and found work in the Dawson bookstore, and then met my husband and moved to Florida. Your concert as a dedication to your dear father after his passing brought all these memories back to me ... ...brought back all these feelings of my life in Canada... ...nostalgic feelings like I'm talking to a fellow Canadian, ...feeling of a connection to you some how ...🙏🙏🙏

My dad turns 80 this year. My mom passed when I was 10. He raised my brother and I by himself. He’s still working full-time. He denies it’s for me, but I know he wants to leave enough money for me to be comfortable because I’m disabled now. He’s diabetic, tired and hurts, but still gets up at 4 am, four days a week to work 11 hour days. I’ve begged him to retire, but he refuses. And honestly, I’m a little worried about him retiring because I’ve seen so many elderly people who go downhill very quickly after retirement. I cry just thinking about losing him. I’m so scared. He is my best friend and the best daddy anyone could ask for. ❤ I just can’t even fathom him being gone. RIP Donald. I’m sure you were as good at being a dad as you were at acting: a top notch, class act. ❤
