Yes the ability to see the world from the perspective of others is essential for the workability of the world. You don't have to agree with their perspective. At one level everyone is doing the best they can and to see this connects people. I do think philosophy should be taught in schools, starting in primary schools. Thanks for the video.

More Kierkegaard please, this is great!!

For me, I read all other philosophy as caution against my thoroughgoing Kierkegaardianism. It's rich that the man who justified Abraham's commitment blue off an engagement without hardly seeking to justify himself. Unless you see the first 10 years of his writing as an attempt to do just that -- but if that's the case, he found the perfect case to undermine his commitment to indirect communication.

Wow this was kind of disappointing. It started out very interesting with the lady but then the guy at the end in his own words ironically banalized the whole subject matter here. From God asking Abraham to sacrifice his son, to let's just get along with each other.

but isn't he summarizing Kierkegaard's interpretation? blame Kierkegaard lol
@grosbeak61302 жыл бұрын
@@Molecular-Brainwaves-Translate I've read and studied kirkegaard and so the answer to your question is no. If that's what he was doing at the very end with his comments about this particular biblical story he did a very bad job. Maybe this was just bad editing and putting this KZbin video piece together. Kirkegaard explains the radical path of the knight of faith, one coming across the mystery of God and his will, and that reason cannot fathom it. It comes across as absurd.
@Molecular-Brainwaves-Translate2 жыл бұрын
@@grosbeak6130 Ah, yes. The knight story that I never read. So Abraham was mentioned there. But Kierkegaard was the "father of existentialism". I think the professor in the clip was doing a "humanist" Jean-Paul Sartre interpretation of Kierkegaard. That was my first impression.
@grosbeak61302 жыл бұрын
@@Molecular-Brainwaves-Translate yes, I suspect you're right. Also as I mentioned you can tell that this KZbin video splice and pieced together parts of the interview, so a lot was left out.
