This is the song the started my professional career. I wrote it on a USB mic, in the guest room of my moms house, at a time when my brother Chase was fighting for his life in the hospital. I sent it to a producer I had recently connected with and a few months later I found out that Kylie Minogue had recorded a version of it. As a result of that, I received my first publishing deal, although that version of the song never made Kylie’s album. A few years later I showed the original demo I wrote on my bed to Tommy Tysper, and he took it and turned it into what it is today. He loved the scratch vocals so much that he convinced me not to re-record them. They’re imperfect, but that’s what makes them special I guess. The background vocals on the song are by my best friend Meghan, who just happened to pop by the house that day. This song always reminds me that perfection is achieved through allowing our imperfection to flow freely into whatever shape they naturally want to take.
