Back in the 90s I fell in love with these cameras, I have a few and some lenses ... have had great results ... you should look for the extension tubes for macro stuff ... lots of fun!!!

I definitely might have to do that! I just got the 120 film holder for my scanner so I'm hoping that prompts me to shoot more medium format. Thanks for the feedback!

Stumbled across your video fellow Kiev Brother! Question, how much would you sell that handle for? Or if I were to request one would you sell it? It reminds me of a Pentax, and would to have a handle like that! Cheers!

I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner, if you haven't found a handle yet I can link you to a few and give you some pointers on what to look for! I highly recommend them and I love mine otherwise I would be happy to sell it to you!

You can buy battery adaptors that permits the use of modern button cells for the metering head. I had one Kiev 60, a Kiev 88 and just recently a Pentacon Six. 60 was fine, the 88 had plenty of light leaks, and like the Hasselblad it was copied from the problem of a broken shutter if you changed the shutter speed before you would on, a more fragile affair.

Hello! Great video! Can't wait to get a Kiev 60 soon. Will you be making repairs vids for it? Also, let me know if you can fix these. Maybe some business going your way if I need to CLA it!
@RompingBronco3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the feedback! Fortunately the one I have works like a charm, but given that they are mechanical cameras any sort of CLA should be easy enough. Looking forward to hearing from you!

You sound exactly like a young Krist Novoselic! Thanks so much for this video. There's not much out there on these tanks. I am Ukranian-Australian (both parents born in the Ukraine, I was born here in Oz). I was deciding on a 6x6 medium format camera when I stumbled across one of the made in the year I was born - 1983. My Grandfather was born in Kiev. How could I say no? I can't wait till it arrives to give it a hoon! Im in the middle of creating an Instax back for it out of a Lomo'Instant mini :)

Just stumbled on this video. Recently picked up an ARAX-60, same camera just updated. I've been looking for a handle like that. Any chance you could share a link to it or give any info on it? Thanks!

The name of the lens is Volna (a wave) - 3; 0.6 meters is approximately 2 feet. ;)

Great video! I want one of these. Though the thing that gets me is that you know you’re gonna have to CLA that bad boy. On top of that, you gotta pray if you buy one it’s not that messed up etc.

Can you let me know where I can get the handle from or send me the specs and I'll make one up? Thanks.

my mirror doesn't lock in, to clarify it winds but doesn't lock
@RompingBronco3 жыл бұрын
@@urban_indy8262 That's odd, the advance system seems to be fairly rudimentary I'm sure the solution would be as simple as cleaning off some rust and potentially replacing some parts.
@urban_indy82623 жыл бұрын
@@RompingBronco if I push the mirror down it locks, just advancing it doesn't go all the way, is it wind to tight or to loose? All the manuals and tutorials I look for are in russian😂

I just got my hands on one of these. Trying to figure the thing out at the moment. I’m relatively new to film in general but have been having a lot of fun with 35mm and wanted to take it to the next level. Figured this would be a good way to try medium format. Got it in and it’s beautiful, but the advance lever is stuck in position and the mirror is visible always. I can press the shutter but nothing really happens. Something inside is definitely stuck. About ready to take it apart but don’t want to break it right away. Any suggestions?
@RompingBronco3 жыл бұрын
I think this is a great entry into Medium format, not too expensive or challenging to use in comparison to a standard 35mm SLR. It sounds like the camera is advanced and there could just be something preventing the shutter button from engaging the shutter system. I'm not well versed in the repairs for this model so I can't really speak from authority as to the best practices but if you want to shoot me an email with a bit more detail of the problem I'd happily look into it a bit for you and hopefully have some better feedback. Best of luck regardless and thanks for watching!

Hello from Slovakia - I have a new Kiev 60 (delivered just today) and Kiev 88 already for a longer time, appreciate your video. I would like to improve my Kiev 60 by that L handle you are using, can you please provide link for shop where I can buy one? Thank you.

3:31 never do this on a Kiev 60 / 6c, you will mess up your advancement. Guide it back with your finger, every time.
@flowermaze___6 ай бұрын
There’s mixed ideas about that, that it’s fine and not great. Also can the shutter speed be changed without charging the shutter? I know that breaks other kievs!
