What I like about the stone glazier is it’s load straps higher keeps load off lower back

Awesome review on the Packs. I’m looking at either a SG or a Kifaru pack I’m 6’5” 270lbs mostly bow hunting elk and moose in western Canada so far mostly day hunts however I want to get into some longer hunts. Just wondering if you have a suggestion one over the other for a big guy and potentially heavy loads with moose quarters. Thanks for awesome review again.

I think kifaru has more options for frame size and shoulder strap length. Sounds like 26” frame and long shoulder straps would be a good option. As for pack Hoodlum or Fulcrum would cover all bases for any length of hunt. I’ll be selling a kifaru 26” frame soon i find the 24” fits my body better. Also have a few bags. I’ll send another message when I get back from work next week

Great video, the sound quality is much better. Like seeing someone from the island review gear as our weather is unique when compared to most other western hunting reviews. Where will you be selling the packs?

SIR. Can you do a review on the Barney's Yukon with the Frieghter frame. It's 11,000 cu in. It's said to be the best pack in the world for carrying heavy weight. Love to see a 100 pound sandbag comparison for carry.

I’m torn between the exo k3 and kifaru right now. I tried a kuiu pro 3600, but am returning it. I didn’t like the shoulder straps and no matter what I tried they were uncomfortable with only 30lbs in it. I like the exo bag and the way the frame moves sounds really cool, but I heard one podcast that the owner of kifaru was on and he said that the movable frame is basically a gimmick. Not sure what to believe. But I just found out kifaru is only 30 mins from my house, so at least I can make an appointment to try it on first. Just wish I could try the exo too
@island-gear-review23593 жыл бұрын
I would try kifaru out first 30 mins away that’s so lucky. They will make sure you get the right size out the gate. Kifaru with 80 lbs plus is very secure. Exo is okay just the bag shifts a lot. More noticeable when the bag gets heavy.

I did luck out being so close to kifaru. It’s weird, I’ve been researching packs for months and I’ve googled “hunting packs Denver” a ton of times and it never came up in a search that they are located here. I just found out this afternoon that they are local to me
@island-gear-review23593 жыл бұрын
I’m sure they will be able to setup you up. Let me know which pack you decide to go with.

Just saw that the mystery ranch terraframe 65 is on sale at moose jaw. It appears to be the same style pack as the hunting packs with a load shelf, but is like$100 cheaper than their hunting packs. I wonder if that’s just a marketing type thing or if the pack is actually inferior to say, a metcalf or pintler? I can’t really tell. It says it’s on the guide lite mt frame though
@steveb64443 жыл бұрын
@@island-gear-review2359 I ended getting a kifaru hunting frame today, they had a garage sale and it was $265. I had never heard of this frame, but it seems awesome and it seems like is kind of in between the duplex tactical and duplex lite.

Great video. Which would you pick out of the SG and the MR? Ive tried Kifaru and it didnt work for me. The most important thing for me is load carrying comfort. Appreciate any insight, thx
@island-gear-review23593 жыл бұрын
I would say stone glacier for the independent load shelf. I would suggest up grading to the auto lock buckles, also adding camp pocket, rain cover and hip pockets

So which do you feel carries big loads better between the Stone Glacier and the Kifaru?
@island-gear-review2359 Жыл бұрын
I think the SG load sling holds weight better. If you use extra compression straps with the kifaru it’s does help.

What do you think about the SG vs Eberlestock?
@island-gear-review23592 жыл бұрын
Elerlestock is a decent entry level pack. My first pack was dragonfly pack. Their heavy and don’t hold weight as comfortable as SG. I would budget a good pack boots and optics. Go cheap on apparel.
@hisdesciples2 жыл бұрын
@@island-gear-review2359 I just really like how there are so many different packs for different situations for eberlestock, but I have heard that eberle doesn’t carry heavy loads well.
@island-gear-review23592 жыл бұрын
I would classify them in the top tier of say bad lands, Cabela’s. Their good in that price range. The top tier packs are more expensive. The mystery ranch metcalf is probably the best bang for the buck. Secures the weight better than most packs. The frame creates tension that holds the load in place.
@hisdesciples2 жыл бұрын
@@island-gear-review2359 thank you for the responses. After a ton of research I’ve narrowed it down to SG vs Kuiu. Time and time again I keep leaning more toward SG. Any thoughts on these two compared to each other?
@island-gear-review23592 жыл бұрын
Well out of SG and kuiu Kuiu goes on sale every year. Their made in China or somewhere else. SG claims made in USA. I find SG load shelf beats everything hands down best design. The shoulder straps leave something to be desired though. I personally carried over 100 lbs. with it in the mountains. 65 lbs of gear plus rifle, water and black bear. It held up great. Mind you I was in better shape for that hunt, than I am now. I would go SG Sky guide 7900 for long trips Solo 3600 for weekends or day hunts
