Being from Namibia have been to both cities but Gaborone wins to me. On cleanliness only its Rwanda. Overall its Gaborone. I like our neighbours. We hardly have problems except poaching related suspicions which are blown out of context sometimes.

Clearly they were all in one canoe busy fishing. I suspect they may have been fishing on Botswana side. The middle river boundary is tricky especially in evening. Only that people felt they should have been arrested. Anyway that's past now. Mistakes or oversight do happen in life.

@@tshokolokubakuba2396 my view is based on facts not patriotism. Gaborone is to me beautiful than Kigali. Kigali is too much forest or too much trees which I find just too much although it's equator. Gaborone is clean as well but Kigali is according to what I saw the cleanest city in Africa. According to cleanliness index 2020 (Google cleanest countries in Africa, Gaborone is no. 4 in Africa which is good indeed to be in top 10) . Windhoek used to be the cleanest city all these years but lost the title to Rwanda some 3 years ago. I didn't understand until I set foot in Rwanda. Rwandans en president Kagame clean the city every weekend. They just do it in shifts. I have neva seen people cleaning every weekend unpaid like they do in Rwanda in my life. The city is beyond clean hands down. It's almost impossible to see even a small piece of paper in Kigali. It's just too clean and there are people cleaning all time. Let's give credit where it's due in Africa. Envy doesn't take us anyway. Fundamental truth don't lie.

Both cities are very beautiful, but Kigali wins in greening and the overall cleanliness, while Botswana wins in world class infrastructure and it's clean too

These two cities are in the same group when it comes to safety, cleanliness and size. The only bigger difference would be that one is hilly and another is flat. Kigali being on hills gives more of views than the flat Gaborone, also Kigali weather is fantastic year out. So what differentiate these two cities is more on nature than man made.

There is a flyover over by the Gaborone Old Industrial sites and this is where the Sir Seretse Khama highway was formally constructed. They're also building a couple of other highways within the city. It's developing at an alarming rate. You live in Francistown, right? Ask someone to take you through the highway in Gaborone city once you're in the area.

Why do people say Kigali is clean?!? I’m confused. It looks dirty to me. The roads are dirt brown. They still have a long way in terms of cleanliness. Gaborone road was way cleaner and just way better overall. Kigali can’t compete with any top cities in the SADC region. It’s still far behind.

The videos shown were during the dry season so of course it'll be more dusty. If you've been to Kigali you would know that this video barely shows the beauty of Kigali. It shows some of the most crowded areas but so many others were left out. You should visit the country yourself before you make a judgment. It is incredibly clean, green, and beautiful

botswana cannot be green like most countries because obviously Botswana is a desert but should improve on cleanliness. Because of the extreme low population it also cant be compared to places like harare or cape town it should be noted that the capital and largest city has a population of 200k and second biggest city has 89k most villages are under 50k people. Botswana also doesnt have beautiful colonial buildings like pretoria, windhoek or harare because colonists were not interested in the country because diamonds were found after independence hence we were the second poorest country in the world at the time with only 5km of tarred road.

Kigali a big village, I just remind you that Rwanda is one of the least developed countries on the planet and Botswana is classified as a developed country So the Gaboronese are rich people who naturally live well but I'm not sure for the Kigalois, they have to tighten their belts. Although when comparing the PPP & nominal GDP/capita of Botswana to that of Rwanda (the GDP/capita of Botswana is 10 times greater than that of Rwanda) Comparing a poor country with a rural population of 83% (Rwanda's urbanization rate at 17%) to that of a country like Botswana (70% urbanized) is really a stupid idea. Already in terms of standard of living Gaborone is ranked as the first city in Africa if we look at HDI (0.830) while Kigali (0.640) is far behind.
