Kihon, separate basic karate techniques, should be drilled in order to build a strong foundation.
Doing techniques on your own will give you the possibility to focus on what your own body is doing by learning sound body mechanics, you’ll be more likely to avoid injuries. As coordination improves, you can safely move on to two-person drills.
Because of the versatility of these techniques, they are great for improving and preserving mobility, and will therefore promote your health.
Here, we will not go into details regarding the body dynamics. Rather you’ll some tips on what to focus on in the beginning.
In part 1 you’ll see six basic uke waza (receiving techniques):
1. Jodan uke
2. Gedan barai
3. Uchi uke
4. Soto uke
5. Kake uke
6. Shuto uke
