I am Black American and had never heard of akara until last weekend when I met up with a large group of friends, four of which are Nigerians. A Nigerian woman brought akara to the gather and boy was it good. She also brought moi moi. I've heard of moi moi before but I had never had it until last week. Another thing that I've heard of but never had was puff puff. One of the Nigerian men brought some that his wife had made. It too was very good. I enjoyed everything so much that I'm planning on making all three next month when I visit my mother and sister. I will probably find some other African dishes to make like jollof rice.

Kiki my second attempt using your recipe and my first time getting akara. It was so good that hubby had 7 of it and wanted more. I used honey beans and I didn’t wash off the skin. Thank you very much for your easy to follow recipes.

After blending the beans smoothly, use a hand mixer and whip for 10-15 minutes to make it fluffy like a whipped cream before adding your chopped onions and pepper and salt then fry.
