white guy here, tried this, for the first time i didnt end up with a sticky mess, but really put the temp low when you do the foil, the steam is an extra source of heat. Mine looked and tasted good and fluffy in the middle but around the sides and bottom the jollof was burned lol, but i think as well i didnt mix it well before adding water and the crispy rice was the most flavorful. Anything awesome tutorial :)

I’ve made it twice now and they’ve both turned out perfect!! Granted I estimated the amount of spices and I burned the rice in the process, it added an amazing smoky flavor that made it taste like special party jollof rice. If you have a wonky electric cooker like mine you’ll probably need to cook the rice for longer at the last stage( it took 35 mins for me) Easiest jollof recipe I’ve encountered. I highly recommend it.

This looks incredible! Thanks for sharing the recipe, I’ve been wanting to make jollof rice for ages but never found a recipe that looked this good. How spicy is it with all the scotch bonnet peppers?
@Kikifoodies
@Kikifoodies 3 жыл бұрын
I only about a few in mine so not so much spicy, but depending on your spice tolerance level, you can increase or decrease the amount of the scotch bonnet pepper.

The Wolof people are a West African ethnic group found in northwestern Senegal, the Gambia, and southwestern coastal Mauritania. In Senegal, the Wolof are the largest ethnic group, while elsewhere they are a minority Rice farming flourished in this region, and Jollof began life as a dish called thieboudienne, prepared with rice, fish, shellfish and vegetables. As the empire grew, the Wolof people dispersed across the region and settled in different parts of West Africa, taking their sumptuous rice dish with them. Jollof is believed to have originated in the Senegambia region of West Africa among the Wolof people, where it is known as benachin. The mouth-watering meal has travelled throughout the sub-region because of the frequent cultural exchange that goes on there. As such, it has evolved into several regional varieties, laced with the heritage of the place where it is prepared. Nevertheless, it maintains its magic and is relished all over Africa.

Am I the only one scared by the amount of cooking oil she poured in that pot?
@SnSungod7
@SnSungod7 3 жыл бұрын
That amount of oil is necessary for the rice not to stick to each other plus it will help rice not to get burned under the bottom of the pan

Best Jollof rice video. Easy to follow & replicate for perfect results every time! Thanks so much for posting. I would however recommend you soak your rice in water at the start of this process to speed up the overall cooking time of the dish!

Funny how I was thinking of doing exactly the same. Soaking the rice in hot water would make a big difference and shorten the cooking time significantly. Thanks

Jesus love you, he died on the cross for you, accept him as your lord and savior he can change everything. For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life" (Jn 3:16" But you must repent too. From that time Jesus went about preaching and saying, Let your hearts be turned from sin, for the kingdom of heaven is near. (Matthew 4:17)~
