When the 2018 eruption stopped , it was 6 cubic miles short of average. About 10 cu. Now. But there's a new island east about 2k feet from the surface. That's about 28, 000 ft from the ocean floor. New Big Island forming.

No, the new Small Island forming, Kamaʻehuakanaloa Seamount (previously known as Lōʻihi) is an active submarine volcano about 22 mi (35 km) off the southeast coast of the island of Hawaii. The top of the seamount is about *3,200 ft* (975 m) below sea level. Not 28K'... You thought you knew.

Please tell truth that the eruption is happening in a remote area in the park AT the BORDER WITH the UPPER PUNA District … This eruptions just 500 feet or less away from the upper Puna Border with the National Park and you can expect gravity to take lava flows to the ocean from there .. A new Puu oo could be forming that could send lava flows heading to the ocean down in lower Puna like before .. If this eruption continues its imminent lava will be heading down towards populated areas … That’s telling it like it is !

@tripplefives1402No Puu oo lava flows will block the Kalapana south lava flow down to the ocean leaving the lava flows heading down east to the populated areas of Pahoa and Hawaiian paradise park … We are witnessing a new Puu oo being formed .

@tripplefives1402 Maybe at first to the south but eventually jn a couple weeks it’ll head down to the ocean to the east like it did when Puu oo was erupting … The Puu oo shield of cooled hardened lava will block the south flows and send this new flow to the east towards a Paradise Park ocean entrance like it has throughout Kilauea’s history … These fissures opening now could spread downward another mile like when Puu oo formed in the 1980 s .. 🤙 . Anyone living in Puna except in the above this eruption Volcano Village area is downslope of this eruption and should be aware of where gravity will take this to the ocean 🌊 .

This is essentially a flank eruption where magma found the weakest point to break through. And because eruptions have previously occurred from this region the pathway for magma to reach the surface is easier.
