Pai Mei, like Yagyu Jubei of Japan, was a legend of Chinese martial arts. Whether he was real or fictitious is still debatable. Lots of folklore/novels about this character were produced in the past century or so. Some regarded him as evil, some righteous. Unlike Yagyu, whose living dates were documented, Pai Mei's background was undetermined. That's why some believed he had lived hundreds of years!
@Mysticinvestigations10 жыл бұрын
That Pai Mei is quite the delicate little prince. You don't reciprocate a head nod, and he goes nuts!
@bwarrior8310 жыл бұрын
It's called "politeness". Let's say you see the Godfather from the Italian mafia nodding at you and you don't nod back out of "not wanting to be little prince". Well, you can be sure next morning you'll end up dead for not being polite. It's crazy, but you have to learn to respect your elders.
@Mysticinvestigations10 жыл бұрын
bwarrior83 There's respecting your elders, and then there's just being silly. These people with power who abuse their positions, whether it be the government, mafia, martial arts masters, or whoever, should deal with the mental illness they suffer from. That being delusions of grandeur, God complex, and a generally sadistic nature with tendencies toward unwarranted bursts of anger.

Some people have balls to be arrogant or plain ignorant. They just can't choose to stand in the middle. Elle Driver calls him miserable old fool and his words mean less than nothing to her. Both of them paid the price dearly. Elle lost her eye for being insolent, and Pai Mei lost his life for being too confident in his own skills... which means nothing as he dies less honorable death by poison.

THEORY: Pai Mei is not a single person, but a title passed from Master to student for centuries, this would explain the original Pai Mei's exaggerated age (1000+ years old). Beatrix became the most recent Pai Mei, after the death of her teacher. When Beatrix killed Vernita (Vivica A. Fox's character) in volume 1, she extended an invitation to Vernita's daughter who saw her mother killed, to seek out Beatrix one day and challenge her to become the next successive Pai Mei when she comes of age.
