Oooo good question… the Ion has better maths to kill most things but comes with inherent risk. It’s also more reliant on support (Markerlights + Bonded). So I’d personally suggest Rail Rifles for beginners & 1 box (especially with Fellgore being such a problem for Pathfinders) But as soon as possible I’d recommend getting 2 Ion for killing Kommandos & Elites

Any particular suggestions on how to defeat them (or indeed any team that ignores obscurity) on Bheta Decima? My corsairs have been getting minced!

Erm… won’t lie, it’s an incredibly tough matchup. With the lack of heavy terrain on the objectives and their ability to remove obscurity & light terrain I’m honestly not sure how you best win that. I think you have to play a cautious TP1, using your marksman to secure an objective with his super conceal. If there’s any objectives you can capture with heavy terrain then do so. Then maybe try and set up a 3APL Shade Runner? For a charge fight plasma grenade? You’ll need Outcasts up to make it do anything but other than that I think you just have to try and score as much as you can during TP2 & 3. It’s kinda a rough match up for Corsairs imo because it goes against their playstyle

Yes & no, so most people just use websites like Wahapedia to access the rules for free. The Balance Dataslate is available for free online as well as the Errata via the Warhammer Community Website. If you’re playing Intercession then the rules are also available for free online. Other than that if you wanted to play a specific team and wanted to get a hard copy of their rules you’d have to buy their relevant faction book. For terrain you’d have to find the correct book, I’m trying to incorporate the terrain rules into my map pack so people can easily use them in future. Hope that helps!
