Kill Team ITD Battle Report: Black Templar Intercessors vs Ork Kommandos

This video ended up looking fairly stylized. We encountered a few difficulties during filming in the tight confines of an ITD board but by going for a stylized look, we ended up with something we were happy with. We’ve got some new equipment as a result of our learning experience and we’re looking forward to giving it a go! Note, there are rules mistakes in this as a result of us struggling with the recording and having to focus on the technical challenges instead of the rules. Stuff like missing several times splash weapons are lethal 5+, while also following that rule when we remember, for example. C’est la vie!

Incredible batrep as always, the old crt monitor aesthetic with the mini map in the corner made it feel like a space hulk-esque video game. Love seeing the improvement video by video, and I always love seeing the incredible paint jobs on the models. Ngl best looking models of all the kill team bat reps, imo

An idea (if its not too much work), for the mini map, maybe have the 45° cones to show the current camera position to help clear up where on the board the actions are happening

Defo! I introduced the mini map in this one to help a bit but I need to take it further. If I can get the editing time down in general I can do a bit more with the map!

Great bat rep but where was all the "Just a Scratch" for the Kommandos?!?! There were so many cases where cancelling out a single die's worth of damage would save your Ork which is massive!

Great video! The security-camera style of recording was a very nice touch, but I feel like it was a bit hard to visualize the position of the operatives relative to one another because of it (in particular in the first two turning points, when there were more operatives on the field)... I think that leaving the aerial pov on screen just a little longer at the end of each turning would greatly reduce this "issue".

Just a +1 on this for me - I love your reports, the production is fantastic, the commentary is great, the close up shots are really good but without the wider shots to show the overall strategy it can start to feel a bit like "this model rolls dice at that model" rather than following the flow of the game and decisions you make.

Thanks, this is good feedback. We’re working on different ways of improving that without it feeling like someone with shaking hands holding a camera up high! It’s a bit tricky to do atm in a tiny apartment but we’ll work something out.

You guys produce some of the best battle reports for kill team I have seen. The editing and recording on this one was AWESOME and looked really clean! Only noticed a few rules mistakes, but I can tell you guys are learning after each game! Not sure what people would think, but have you guys ever considered doing the narrative campaigns? I feel like you guys could make some pretty cool stuff should you decide to do it

We’d love to do more and plan so! Right now the main limiting factor is editing time. A video like this takes 40-50 hours to make which can be tricky to fit in when working full time, but we’re working on ways of getting that down!

this is great. the one criticism i have is that during the end of turn summations, i think it would be better to show a battlefield overview and highlight where each model is. the action hots during the turn focus on individual models and movements, and the overall state of the game gets lost a bit

I love your videos, gotta say, hence I feel like I need to point it out: many of the stat blocks were incorrect to some degrees which was surprisingly distracting. I noticed it when 3 melee hits dealt 12 wounds instead of 9, when the fist melee profile was shown but the marine held a massive chainsword. Afterwards the shokka pistol was missing its MW2 as well

Ooof, that’s good to know. This one ended up being a bit of a bear to edit so that obviously slipped through. Thanks for the catch, I’m going to double check those overlays. I’m actually in the middle of redoing them (recently found a way to make that part of the editing process which takes the longest, much faster, so this is a good opportunity to revisit that).

We got the avatars commissioned, alas our artistic talents are limited to the models you see painted in the batreps 😅 . I’ve not yet built a Khorne themed Kill Team but I’ve included a few operatives with the Mark of Khorne in our own personal campaign. It works really well on the chosen and the shrive talon (although a Slaanesh shrivetalon would also be awesome). Unfortunately like everyone else, I’ve not really found a way to make the Butcher effective yet although the Mark of Khorne is designed for him.

Great batrep as always! I'm not the biggest fan of ItD but I have seen that new tac ops and maps are coming in conjunction with the new critical ops card deck so I'm hoping that improves it. You also forgot ceaseless on your auto bolt rifles!
