Feeling two-sided. I love every Playon episode yet I also beg for this Playon Octarius season to end. The number of rules being ignored is considerable and really makes me as a player uncomfortable yet all players are so charming and entertaining. Guess I could only hope for things to be better in the next KT season. p.s. GW released some Killteam FAQ on November 4th yet did not mention it in any article in Warhammer Community. I would like to suggest u guys take a look and apply them in the next season

I'm pretty new to KT (3 games played), and just played this mission today. My Legionaries (attacker) got spanked by an Intercessor team (defender). Cool to see this pop up in my feed today!

Intercession Squad is pretty brutal. The sergeant can take a bolt rifle, a Vengeance-Class Scope and the Reclusium-Blessed bolts, and sling 4, 2+, P1, Lethal 5+, 4/5 damage shots twice per activation, plus Overwatch on 2+ with Methodical. Truly frightening.

that mission felt really much in the attackers ball? Like firstly the defenders started with less models which against really killy killteams would have been great but here just really was pure downsides so idk how to feel on that and then on top of that their wasn't any real counterplay the defender could do against the action past kill good which is hard enough in even matches but they were starting with less to begin with so was really difficult

Question: 8:25 shooting a concealed Gensteler thats in cover, when are you alloved to do that? Is it because they are both close to the cover? Noob question. Hidden Horror: While this operative has a Conceal order, it is always treated as having a Conceal order, regardless of any other rules (e.g. Vantage Point).

Really one sided mission for a one sided match up. The genestealers really had a ton of advantages as a melee and charging focused unit against a smaller starting team.

I have a question tho, at 8:29 the Ork boy shoots at the stealer but the stealer is in cover right and is concealed right? So how does the ork get to shoot at the stealer? Also after that Rebecca only retained one defense dice as a save instead of 2, but I thought her Lurk ploy gives her additional dice to defend if concealed or in cover.

If I remember correctly, ork boy being within 1 white circle of cover can actually shoot the genestealer. It would need to be more than 1 white circle(could be wrong here) away from cover to be obscured + conceal would make it invalid target without vantage point. I might be wrong though

So the attacker chooses whether or not they will attack the person or parry one of their dice. If the die hasn't already been parried then it will hit. Does that make sense?

We filmed these all together, but as we found out later after we had filmed it. That strat is utterly useless for genestealers. As if there in cover and concealed they can't be shot anyways. However in this case because of how close proximity James's orks was to the stealers they didn't get cover so from our understanding they should be obscured

8:10 I'm not sure why the Dakka Boy couldn't shoot the genestealer that moved forward on turn one. Being on a vantage point vs a lower target allows you to treat conceal orders as engage orders. I'm enjoying the content, but please do work on the rule comprehension for your next productions!

For this mission, basically the defender starts with 12 points, and for each specific number of explosives planted, the attacker steals some. Since they werent using tac ops, it was done the moment too many were planted

I haven’t read the KT rules, but the way they’re presented here the close combat rules seem poorly designed. The fact that you can deal damage to an opponent and ignore all their dice if you do enough damage doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. If instead you had to parry blows until there aren’t dice left on the opposing side before dealing damage, I think that would work a lot better.

Your version basically comes down to "who rolls more" which isn't very fun and gives a massive advantage to units like Genestealers who can get a huge amount of attacks in - even more massive than they currently have. The current version of melee is great. It rewards a calculating approach and makes Charging pretty dangerous but rewarding. Yes, there are possibilities of instant deaths regardless of your own rolls but that's part of the fun - it gives both parties things to think about, for defender - how to keep their operatives away from enemies, and for the attacker - how to get these kills, which unit to charge into which. Remember that melee isn't about the fight itself - it's also about all the movement you have to make to get in, and that is also a part of the balance.

@@antongrigoryev6381 But isn't that how it should be? An army that specialises in close combat should totally outmatch an army that doesn't. In this case, the Genestealers have no shooting capabilities, but excel in close combat as compensation. If the opposing player does their job well, they should be trying their best to prevent the Genestealers reaching CC, otherwise they'll start hemoraging models real fast. In my opinion, the whole idea behind attacks and parries should emulate the dueling of close combat, trading blows with an opponent until you find a gap in their defense or simply overwhelm them, rather than just taking hits in order to be able to hit back. That's just suicidal, and far too unfairly favours the attacker.

@@AzogDaAussie Yes, but there are also hybrid teams, that could potentially do both melee and ranged, even though weaker than teams specialized in either. Kommandos here are a perfect example of that. With your system, Kommandos would have no chance in melee 9 times out of 10, which negates half of their potential power. Genestealers have enough melee power as-is, insane mobility, plus a "super-Conceal" rule that basically means you're very unlikely to shoot them unless they're right in your face. Also, there are very few ways in the game to actually slow down enemies other than shooting at them, and you can't run away since objectives exist. Also, a full-melee team like Genestealers isn't really supposed to work in Kill Team. They (and, like, one more team) are more of an exception, and Developers didn't do such a team since. As for "favors the attacker" - yes, but that's half the point. As I said, melee in Kill Team isn't just about the Fight itself - it's also about the movement. You need to ensure you're the Attacker, and set up operatives appropriately. Also, Charging in very often will leave your operative open to other attacks, which is also something you need to consider.

Had to stop watching after the very first attack. If her genestealer has conceal and is in cover, you can’t shoot it unless you’re within 2”. If you were within 2” (you were not) then she couldn’t retain dice for cover. This mistake set the scene for the rest of the vid, I couldn’t do it. Sorry.

Understandable. Sorry that we got that wrong. We were not understanding the cover rules correctly. Interpreting that because she was so far away from the cover she should not benefit from it. We’ve learned a lot from these episodes and hope that future episodes will be better examples of the game.

I gotta say I was super excited to see kill team on the channel and I do love the players they're definitely entertaining themselves, but the rule inconsistencies has been a real big let down and been kind of uncomfortable to watch. I really can't wait for this season to end and hopefully see not only a more seasoned group take a crack at the game having made these mistakes and learned from them, but also have some of the crazy kill teams like warp Coven and Gellerpox and so on played
