Hi Sir, Thanks for your KZbin content. I have tall fescue lawn ( I reside in Delaware) but I noticing Poa Annua+Nutsedge through out the lawn especially on the sunny side of the house. @ElevatedLawnscapes
@ElevatedLawnscapes 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙏🏾! For the nutsedge you can use SedgeHammer. Poa is a winter/fall weed that germinated last year. There is not much you can do right now except bag your clippings to prevent them from dropping more seeds. In the fall you can apply a pre-emergent around the August timeframe or use applications of ethofumesate to prevent next years poa.

I used speedzone a couple weeks ago and it did quite a bit of damage to the lawn. Definitely lost alot of color and even some browning/dying. Stuck to the label rate and temps in the 60's and 70's.
@ElevatedLawnscapes
@ElevatedLawnscapes 6 ай бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that was your experience. I have never had that happen with Speedzone. May i ask if you used MSO or a surfactant with your application? And how much water volume did you use per 1000 sq ft if you made a blanket application? Or was it a spot spray application?
@Sir_Mack
@Sir_Mack 6 ай бұрын
Blanket spray. I didn't use a surfactant as it said it already had some in and I mixed 1oz per gallon. I dont know what happened but definitely alot of tip burn. I sprayed 1st app 1oz per gallon then same thing again two weeks later. It appears that about 1/2 the blades of grass took alot of damage but still green towards the bottom of the blade. It's been a little over 2 weeks now since my last app and my grass is not looking much better. I wouldn't say it's dead but definitely damaged and it seems like the growth has been stunted as well. I'm kind of freaking out cause I did a complete lawn renovation last fall and it turned amazing! Literally the nicest yard I've ever seen. Now I'm just hoping it doesn't die. Any suggestions? Do you think it will recover? Should I hit it with some nitrogen or just leave it alone and give it time to recover?
@ElevatedLawnscapes
@ElevatedLawnscapes 6 ай бұрын
@@Sir_Mack @Sir_Mack You should leave it alone to recover, its early in the season and the spring flush is still ahead of us. Tip burn won't kill the grass and I hate to say it but it happens at times. I've done it myself. Two more questions did you spray 1 gallon of solution to cover 1000 sq ft? Were the weeds not dying so you applied a second app?
@Sir_Mack
@Sir_Mack 6 ай бұрын
@ElevatedLawnscapes Thanks for the replies Cam! Yes so I have the flowzone backpack sprayer and mixed out 4oz speedzone with 4oz of water. My front lawn and sides is right at 3200 sq ft. I used roughly 3 gallons of the mix in the front and used what was left in the tank to do the back. My back is about 4000 Sq ft so I just filled it back up and mixed up the same ratio and finished off the back. The only thing I can think of is on the directions it says not use when transitioning from winter to spring or fall to winter. Maybe I used to early but regardless my lawn definitely took a hit from the speedzone and it's very frustrating. I check on it constantly and it may slowly be recovering but it's very slow. I planned on doing a light dethach with my groundskeeper rake cause there is some dead material in the canopy from I guess not surviving the winter or possibly overcrowding from seeding to heavy and I've been putting it off since this happend. I'd like to hurry up and get that brown out before it becomes a whole other issue now that the lawn is stressed. Do you think I could do a very light dethatch using that method now or hold off? Any other things I can do to speed up the recovery processes like some potassium or something? My lawn was so dark green and picking up right where I left off now I'm just kinda stuck at this time when I should be dominating this time a year lol. Thanks so much for all your help! Edit: sorry I forgot your last question. Yeah the weeds seemed to be dying, but slowly and there were a few more popping up here and there so I decided to do a second app after 2 weeks. That was probably a mistake looking back now for sure. Didn't really notice much damage to the turf till a few days after the 2nd app. Temps never got over 65-70 and low's still in 30-40's. Average high temps were probably 55-60 with a few warmer days sprinkled in.
@ElevatedLawnscapes
@ElevatedLawnscapes 6 ай бұрын
@@Sir_Mack Sounds like you had enough water carrier. Your answer to my second question was what I was looking for. I don't think the second app was necessary. With the low temps and the moderate high temps the herbicide was working it just takes a little longer for you to see a full kill with the cooler temps. The name of this game is patience, don't try to force the grass to grow when its is already under stress. That includes dethatching. Continue with your fertilization as planned.

Follow the label recommendations. You do not have to us a surfactant with speedzone. I typically like for the herbicide to sit for 48 hrs before any rain or watering. Thats not always possible but thats my goal

Hello, I'm confused which one to use for the weed kill during the Winter(February time), what will be you're suggestion for the killing most of the weeds.
@ElevatedLawnscapes
@ElevatedLawnscapes 7 ай бұрын
I do not recommend trying to kill weeds during the winter as most of the herbicide products are less effective during that time because the most plants are not actively growing to take up the herbicide. Depending on your location your temperatures may be starting to rise similar to the start of spring conditions. Therefore, you would choose a herbicide for those cooler temperatures as described in the video 3:00 minute mark. These recommendations are is for cool season grass type lawns. Thanks for watching!
7 ай бұрын
@@ElevatedLawnscapes , Yeah I have gone through it thoroughly I feel that ester based is good. I'm based out of Georgia, I tried Spectracide which was not helpful then I feel it it's Amine based and not suitable during the winter season. I'm planning to look at SpeedZone what will be the best time( I see next week temperature is between 36F to 60F day for 4 days without rain) and what is your suggestion?.
@ElevatedLawnscapes
@ElevatedLawnscapes 7 ай бұрын
If you are in Georgia please make sure you have a cool season grass type (Fescue, Rye, or Kentucky Bluegrass) or warm season like (Bermuda, Centipede, or St. Augustine). If it was my lawn, I would wait until the temps warmed up more. The cooler the temps the longer it takes for weeds to be killed. It's almost lawn season but we not completely there yet for some applications.

@ElevatedLawnscapes

My general approach to Bermuda would be very simple. - Pre-emergent and weed control in the early spring - Scalp prior to spring greenup - Monthly fertilization, 2-3x per week watering and mowing the rest of the season. - Leveling if needed. Bermuda does not take a lot to manage.
