@dtellado14 жыл бұрын
Don't ever drop your sparkplug in the cylinder. Use an old sparkplug boot and lower it down. If the plug hits the side it will change the gapping in the plug. Or buy yourself a sparkplug socket with the rubber inside, so you can lower the plug and twist it on.

Very good!! I have 2 questions 1.what is the gap of spark plug? 2.How to clean the coils?
@killawattgarage3 жыл бұрын
99% of the time they are spot on from out of the box. Checking them is always a good idea but be careful not to damage the iridium tip on certain spark plugs. 0.042 in / 1.1 mm is the recommended gap. Spray on Brake cleaner will quickly clean up any traces of grease and oil. Make sure its dry before reassembly

That was my next question too. Thanks

Gonna do it soon. 05 Liberty. Why does Jeep make it so hard? Had to replace my rear wiper and had to get it from the Dealership because Jeep uses some funky attachment that nobody else uses. I had to pay 3x the price for an 11 inch rear wiper. Don't even get me started on the replacement of my head light a month ago. Had to basically tear down the front end to get to the bulb. I still love my Jeep just not working on it.

Being 100% new to trying to work on my own vehicle I have questions about the details regarding the tools used. What size ratchet is being used? What is the size of the spark plug removal tool What length is that extension? Are all the sockets used in this video usable on the same ratchet? I may have screwed up some of the terminologies even in typing this question.
@JackTheAviator2 жыл бұрын
5/8 socket for plugs. 10m for bolts for boots. Probably 8 to 11 inch extension I would recommend a medium length bolt breaker as the ratchet to remove plugs. Makes it a million times easier

Is it important to gap the spark plugs with a feeler gauge? I've heard this but wasn't sure if it was necessary.

99% of the time they are spot on from out of the box. Checking them is always a good idea but be careful not to damage the iridium tip on certain spark plugs. What size socket ?
@Tobias3 жыл бұрын
10mm for the coils, and a 5/8 inch deep socket for the plugs. Here he is using a specific "spark plug removal tool" which is equivalent to the 5/8 inch deep socket. I suggest that and a nice lengthening adapter. One note, a 16mm deep socket might feel close, but it is a bit too loose and may damage the spark plug and be a much bigger problem to remove after.
