Holy cow the Woodman brothers who had their parents killed really are evil people. They felt so entitled to their dad’s company that they stole it from him when he had a heart attack then bankrupt it- then killed both the parents so they could get life insurance! Here in Ghana, you definitely would have had the neighbor asking where they were taking the lady to in a rather loud voice which can wake a dead person. Call it gossiping but it has saved lives of people being kidnapped.

I am in Australia and my mother is from the country so this is how I was brought up (I was also brought up in Papua New Guinea and everyone looks out for each other). But in the cities in Australia most people just don't care about others, except in working class/poor areas.

Some people might refuse to believe that another person is bad: “The reason she went to prison is because she was framed.” Others believe the bad person can be redeemed if they are cared about enough. Still others have been very badly treated their entire life and are not able to believe that they can find or deserve something better. Some believe that they can handle it, particularly if physical attraction to a bad person competes with better judgment. All these people need help learning to be less self destructive and make better choices for themselves but are not responsible for the crimes of these criminals. Of course, as you point out, there are those who can successfully conceal it completely.
