Yes, "You won't get motion until you start moving!" Alot of us are waiting for something to get us going. What we need to realize there is NOT going to be someone in your corner until you're in your own corner! Exactly what Curtis said! I used to play Violin on our downtown mall all through out high school. No one made me and no one was there egging me on until I developed a fan base and regulars and people would expect me to be there. Those people weren't in the practice room with me. I had to put in all those hours by myself! Then people showed up for me after I showed up for myself!

as a DIYer & small businessman i had a team of artists who i managed, with them on my team i was getting nowhere, they were half stepping & not pulling their weight, they thought that we were working the friendship business, i doing most of the work but they looking at doing shows, they ain't no main attractions they thinking my fans & business associates are their fans, they don't want to practice playing music to be better but want payment like the bigger established artists, it's only when i got rid of them that i got major traction going, now they want that if i begin to do bigger things in music, that i must come back to bring them along. these same people who didn't want to pay for services or skills. so what killer mike is saying is so true.

Lots of independent artists don't want to be DIYers they think only singing is their thing, some don't even be active on social media, some don't even take regular pics & do updates, they don't even try out using an app that can make their career as an artist more easier, they all want someone to do all the work while they just want to be lazy & talk about one day being a big star.

im confused - he said: "... we go in 10 at night, we go out till 5 to 6 in the morning to record, we go home on the weekends...." (direct quote) - I understand the sentiment (discipline and treating it like work) - did he mean 10a - 5 or 6pm? Otherwise that sounds like he is working overnight, which makes sense if you have a full day time schedule (but that's not sustainable). I am a full time artist myself and I cosign the "9-5 diy structure"
