I saw The Andromeda Strain at the Stewart Avenue Drive'in Theater in Atlanta when it first came out. I was 13 at the time and I was stunned! It is still a favorite!

Rabid from 1977 written and directed by David Cronenberg starring Marilyn Chambers scared me .

I went to see The Omega Man in 71, when I was 13. I went to the school librarian the next day and special ordered the book I Am Legend. Man, was I mad! I guess at that age I thought "based on" meant it was a carbon copy of the book. I didn't read it until some years later, and loved it. Who knew?

The Andromeda Strain has long been one of my favorite movies. The other one is Jurassic Park. I think the fact that Michael Chrichton was a screenwriter as well as a novelist is the reason his books translate so well to movies.

Thank you for including the better The Crazies remake. Of course you can’t beat the original Andromeda Strain.

THE CRAZIES is one of the exceptions about Older vs. Newer versions - there's no need for competition or dismissing one and never seeing the other. SEE BOTH!

Hi Rick I would like to recommend 1. Contageon: Day of the Dead 2 (Not by George R. Romero, just using his Title Style) 2. 28 Days Later & It's follow up 28 Weeks Later 3. The TV mini Series of Andromeda Strain 4. Rabid These are very well Done films, althoughnumbers 1 and 4 suffer slightly with the Special Effects available at the time of production. However all four of these are definately worth a viewing. Love your channel, Rick. Keep up the high standard. Alan Morgan Swansea UK

Great video. I would add Cabin Fever (2002), which combines a killer virus with classic cabin-in-the-woods college-kid horror. A B-movie with an ironic touch.

I think you left off the best post apocalyptic virus movie -"The Stand'. It is a hard watch, since it is six hours long (W/O commercials). It was filmed all across the country. from New York City to Las Vegas.

I'd forgotten about The Killer That Stalked New York. I'd seen it ages ago, and it's definitely one of the best of the lot. Panic In the Streets is another favorite, with a great cast. Thanks for the collection!
@emwa3600Ай бұрын
This THE KILLER THAT STALKED has much of the 'feel' of PANIC IN THE STREETS and 80,000 SUSPECTS because all the press about the plague is dismissed and lied about, exactly like 2019's events.
@tomsenior7405Ай бұрын
Andromeda was wonderful. One of the most disturbingly engaging films I have seen. Nothing comes close to this kind of story telling. Documentary, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror, Suspense, Conspiracy, Medical... where to put this film, how to classify it? It doesn't matter, just watch it!

The original Andromeda Strain is fantastic. The remake not so much.

I either love Michael Crichton's work, or don't care about it. "Andromeda Strain" was the first book of his I read and I LOVED IT! I love the movie, too! Haven't seen it in way too long, though. Thanks for showcasing it.

PANIC IN THE STREET takes place in the busy industrial port of New Orleans. Dirty, grungy, seldom considered - "the Docks". But a merchant ship's sailor ends up bringing in killer-smallpox and no one knows about it - or takes it seriously. That's the first job of Navy doctor Richard Widmark, and his second job is to convince big tough New Orleans detective Paul Douglas that's this can be a devastating plague. He learns though. Meanwhile, as world spreads that the Navy and The Police are searching for someone (normal for smuggling), villain Jack Palance and his hapless stooge Zero Mostel decide THEY can move faster and locate this smuggler's "treasure" first. It's a race with a lot of foolish innocents believing lies instead of The Truth.

Rich, you forgot The Cassandra Crossing, where a virus is released on a train, and it causes sleeping people's brains to expand until their heads burst. Creepy AF, and the ending was something else.

Andromeda Strain was very scary, when I watched it first as kid. Especially the scene with the pilot. It's simplicity makes it worth watching even today. Crazies had a good remake in 2010.

@emwa3600Ай бұрын
CONTAGION really hooked me because I was soooo confused on this backwards time-line of the film's sequence of events. Stars with Day 3, then eventually we move to Day 2's events, and then Day 1's at the very end.
